About this ebook

Few people fight cancer and win. Even fewer fight cancer, pass away, and still win. Debbie Owens fought hard—and won. This is her story. Through raw moments of pain and heartache, Debbie showed us what it looks like to live life in the hands of a loving God. Baffled and Blessed is the title of this book, but also the theme of her life. This is a celebration of an ordinary person who learned to walk with an extraordinary God.

    About Sophia

    Preface

I t is a privilege beyond words to see a life lived well. Debbie Owens lived a wonderful and unique God story. We met with Debbie numerous times over a few years in order to capture her incredible story. We tried to capture some of the God moments of her life in this little book.

Debbie Owens lived a beautiful life of music, teaching, and raising three amazing girls. She always talked about how much God blessed her, but never ever bragged about herself. Debbie traveled with Maranatha! Music, singing and writing songs. She wrote the beautiful song, Hear My Prayer. In addition, Debbie taught music classes and directed musicals at Stoneybrooke Christian School. She brought life and love wherever she went. But her greatest pride and joy in life was her three daughters—Jessica, Natalie, and Abigail.

In addition to blessings, God gave her many challenges. It is said that God gives his toughest battles to his strongest warriors, and that is certainly true of Debbie Owens. Through all the painful and heart-wrenching moments in her life, Debbie chose to fix her eyes on Jesus and allow him to determine her steps. If you knew her, then you know she was full of joy and positivity. No matter what challenges she was dealing with, Debbie would always ask, How are YOU doing? God’s grace and strength were so prevalent and visible in her life. It was such an inspiration to see one of God’s bravest warriors live life well.

Baffled and Blessed is the story of Debbie’s life. It’s a life story of baffling moments and feeling undeserved, unwanted, and unknown that led to incredible blessings in the arms of a loving Heavenly Father. Her hope in writing this book was that you would see a more vivid portrait of our loving God and learn how to draw closer to Him in the beautiful mess of this life.
