PREFACE

The Dream of Angels discusses the role dreaming about angels’ connections in the development of psychology, philosophy, and theology. Many people think of angels as good, forgetting that there are also bad angels according to theology and religion. Many people today think of an angel as a being that God created to deliver good news to us. It is assumed that angels work together with human beings. A human being has a different perception and viewpoint from angels. God understands angels in a different way than human beings do. There are also many ways an angel can challenge a human being’s way of understanding and thinking. As we know, a human being thinks of doing many things at once, but God, through his angels, challenges human beings to do something very important that can help them abundantly in relation to the world.

I would like to express my appreciation to everyone who contributed to my writing of The Dream of Angels. When I say contributed, I mean these individuals offered either encouragement or discouragement and feedback, whether good or bad. An example of a good contribution is when somebody gave me a good idea without analysing the idea himself or herself to help to develop my ideas for the book. A bad contribution is when someone did something to hurt me, but I challenged that painful feeling and decided to feel a good feeling instead. The ideas within The Dream of Angels came to me after I’d spent some time both in hospital and in prison. I did my reading and research on philosophy, psychology, and theology, including the Bible as my faith requires, but The Dream of Angels is for people of every faith and belief and even for those with no faith or belief, including atheists. Also, it was the stress and depression I endured in prison that motivated me to write this book. I carried on with the project of writing this book after I was released from prison.

The Dream of Angels will help my readers to understand what I mean when I say that angels dream. I think this title leads you to think of a direct faith belief, but such is not the case. The Dream of Angels will lead you to a different sort of dimension where you will become more interested in discovering the many things in the world.

When I talk about an angel, I mean the good angels, so the dream of angels equals something good, excellent, sweet, and relaxing. I believe that even in hospital or prison a person can still find relaxation. I believe that before something good or bad happens to a person, there must be a sign of it. I have read many people’s dreams, but I am afraid to write them down for you to consider. There is always a signal before something happens to someone. I also have observed that people might not believe in the problem or situation which they are going through, but they consciously believe through their inner spirits they have the ability to tell others about the problems which they are going through in their lives.

Many astrologers, philosophers, and nonphilosophers have written about the dreams. Some of them interpret dreams in the way they want. Most people dream all sorts of dreams, but there are many people who do not dream simply because they are unable as no dreams come into their minds when they’re asleep. Everybody has a dream—everybody dreams a dream—but The Dream of Angels is not based on dream interpretation. Some people have had dreams, but those dreams are now past. Maybe people forget what they dream because something interrupts their dreams, causing them not to be able to remember them.

As you are reading, you will come to understand that The Dream of Angels is also based on the mind—thinking—in the context of philosophy, psychology, and biblical thinking. Do not give up partway through; continue reading all the chapters herein. You will find that I quote Bible passages to support a certain religious viewpoint.

When you are thinking of doing something, it becomes part of your dream. It is better to support the fulfilment of your dream with all your energy and to make it happen when it is a good dream, but not when it is a bad dream. I believe you have the full right to do your best to ensure your good dream manifests in your life. I’ve met many people who dream bad dreams. According to their dreams, they are destined to have bad things happen to them. When I interviewed some of these people, I asked, "What if you personally dream that you are dead from a car accident? Would you be happy if that dream were to come true? All the people I interviewed answered no with question marks in their mind. This is why I believe that The Dream of Angels is very important. My idea of writing The Dream of Angels was very important to me because I always centred my research on human dreams and angels. I would like my readers to become more informed readers after finishing The Dream of Angels, an extremely interesting read for those who want to become philosophers, psychologists, or theologians or students in either of those fields of study.

I believe in dreams involving angels. The purpose of The Dream of Angels is to analyse the main points about angels. The analysis and the research I did helped me personally, before it helps the reader. When I was writing The Dream of Angels, it caused me to discover more things in connection with my research. As you read The Dream of Angels, you should feel excited about the fact that your dream will be accomplished and is about to happen in a positive way. Many of the tips I give herein will help your mind to achieve good dreams in a good place and at a good time. Most dreams come when we sleep, but some dreams come when we are awake or when we are unconscious. I believe that every time we think of something without talking to the person who is next to us, our mind is working, which is also a part of the dream. I would like all my readers to understand that we do not dream only when we sleep. Many people think that we only dream when we are asleep. When a human being sleeps, every part of the external body stops working physically and stops moving. But I disagree with the scientific conclusion that the body becomes immobile because the human mind does not stop working and will never be immobile. Also, a human mind cannot only work in the night because it is not a physical organ. I think now we are getting somewhere. Relying on metaphysics, The Dream of Angels will provide you with many hints to ensure the good orientation of your dreams and to motivate you. I do not want you to be discouraged while you are reading. Many astrologers say that a person thinks about what he or she has done during the day while he or she is asleep. This idea is not a bad one. In The Dream of Angels, I must consider that point to help understand dreams in detail. But the most important thing readers must understand is that The Dream of Angels is not about interpreting dreams or guiding a person on how to dream. Instead it concerns the positive orientation of the invisible mind.

Some people have to take medication before they are able to go to sleep. Taking sleep medication does not mean you cannot dream. Of course you can still dream. Your mind is always active and will be active as long as you are alive. I believe that your mind will become inactive once you die because all your physical mechanisms will stop functioning. According to the religious perspective, primarily Christian but also other religions, your life will continue in either heaven or hell, depending on your behaviour on earth. Although I have to consider religious beliefs in The Dream of Angels, my own faith and belief does not affect any part of the contents.

We must not deny the supernatural when we think about dreams or the mind. Every person wants to discover something new in the world. If today we do not pay any attention to anything that is happening in the world, we will not think of living in this world in an appropriate way. Many people find it very difficult when they have bad dreams. I believe The Dream of Angels, in explaining the function of dreams, will turn bad dreams into good dreams. The human mind can repeat something over and over, but this does not mean that we must do the same things again and again, as those things might destroy our lives. I believe that many people repeat the same things over and over, but their minds think of different things. What a human being says does not necessarily indicate what he or she is thinking. The Dream of Angels will give you good direction in something that you have been looking for, for a long time.

I believe that an angel will be with you spiritually while you are reading The Dream of Angels. He (all angels, according to the Bible, are male) will be your helper to make sure that you understand the contents. Sometimes you might feel excited. This means that an angel has highlighted that point for you to read so you may increase your happiness. Much scientific research is required before making an accurate conclusion. Many people who have earned a diploma think that they can no longer be told anything new. They think they are finished with everything in the world. I am not against their academic titles or their ideas, but I am very realistic regarding what humans think. I respect people who have had the opportunity to study. I also respect people who never had the opportunity to study on account of many different circumstances. I believe that one cannot ignore one’s intellectual capacity. You are the master of your life especially, when you stand behind the good decisions you have made.

When you want your mind to conceive of something new for your life, do not let other people monitor your mind or intrude upon your life. You must not allow people to monitor you when you have a good dream about your future. Your future is in your own hands. Your mind controls your future, as does your thinking. The good things that your mind processes make up the good result your body will produce. Everything we do comes from the mind. Many people say that the mind controls the body. I believe that when we dream, which comes from the mind, it makes us believe that it is the mind that leads us to do everything we do in our lives. The soul is not the mind. There is a lot of confusion on this point. The soul is very different from the mind; the two must not be mixed up.

INTRODUCTION

An angel will be guiding you through The Dream of Angels to make sure that you read it with all your understanding and strength. A good reader will understand that The Dream of Angels is not concerned with describing what an angel looks like, because an angel does not look like a human being. According to philosophy and religion, an angel is a supernatural being. In the supernatural world, there is neither sleep nor physical movement because every creation in the supernatural world has eternal life. The mention of the supernatural leads me to the idea of the mind. The human mind does not have to sleep. Indeed, the mind never takes break as long as the human is alive in this physical world. When the mind stops working, the human body stops working, along with all its functions, which stop immediately. Our minds can only stop thinking when our physical bodies stop functioning. When the physical body is functioning well, there will be positive and negative thinking. Also, a person’s character determines the results of his or her mind. This is why we analyse a person’s character.

The human mind cannot be seen because it is invisible. It is neither a mechanism nor an organ. It can only be identified by its physical characteristics. Some psychoanalysts say that a person’s thoughts represent only an effort to know something but not an effort to know that thing exactly. I am talking not just about the Christian perspective but also in connection with several ideas that a human being may have in mind. Every religion offers its own definition of the human mind. Many philosophers have led people to understand their ideas, which will never help anybody to understand the human mind. Still, those ideas continue to mislead many people.

I know that most scholars believe the ideas of many philosophers, which they use to support their research into something important to them. I always appreciate this: Descartes was impatient to discover newer and better ways of getting hold of knowledge truth (Robinson and Garratt 2006, 15).

If scholars and researchers put forth no effort, then many of their experiments will be unsuccessful. Of course, it is always better to learn from the past because the past determines the present. If people ignore the past, then most of their experiments will be unsuccessful. The old research still helps. One researcher has stated that a fish does not swim and even that fish as a whole cannot swim. No scientist can prove this is wrong as everybody knows that fish know how to swim. Also, you cannot teach a fish how to swim.

I believe that an angel cannot be equal to a human being, just as the human mind cannot be the same as the physical body. The body is the mechanism, and the mind controls body. Let’s go back to Descartes’s philosophy: One rule that Descartes stresses repeatedly is that true ideas must be ‘clear and distinct’ in your mind (Robinson and Garratt 2006, 25). We don’t have something different in our minds when we think of something in connection with a religion, especially when we consider things from the Christian perspective. There is none righteous, no, not one (Romans 3:10). A human being makes many mistakes continually. Even our mind is imperfect, which shows in our behaviour, whether right and wrong. We might have the mental capacity to understand that. A dream can help us identify what is in our minds.

A dream defines how the mind functions because dreaming confirms to a person that his or her mind is still working. A dream is an idea; the human mind can function in a negative way or a positive way. When a person has the thought to rescue somebody else from danger, I believe that the person is having a positive, good thought. When an angel has a dream, there is no need for the angel to sleep because an angel is not the same as a human and does not have a physical body. We also have something in our minds that enables us to dream without sleeping. I think this assertion will be very helpful to those who think that dreaming occurs only when a person sleeps. I believe angels do not sleep because angels have neither a human body nor a human mentality. An angel has perfect thinking. Only a good angel can have holy, positive thinking. Everybody thinks that when someone sees an angel, it means the person is going to receive a good message from the angel. The human mind thinks about good and bad things before reacting.

A person’s character can be identified in many ways. Some human character traits are not good to express in public. Bad character traits lead to a bad attitude towards the public. A bad character trait affects the person’s mind. The mind never sleeps because it is not a physical organ or a thing. Instead, the mind is identified as a supernatural phenomenon. According to the religious perspective, people consider the mind to be the centre of faith and intellectual thinking. Consider this: Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind’ (Matthew 22:37). Here, the body represents a character trait or a behaviour. The expression of character must come from the mind. Technically speaking, if we say that mind is the software, then the character must be the hardware.

A person’s character is the result of his or her own mind. When a person copies the character of someone else, it is his or her mind that determines the result of that adoption of character. It is always the mind that generates human character before it produces something new. The result must be either good character or bad character. An angel’s character is always perfect because an angel does not have a human body, something whose result must be either good or bad. Character can be good when the analysis of the mind is correct.
