Elizabeth J. Shaw

Elizabeth’s spiritually enriched life expanded over two different continents; her stories are warm, truthful and touching. Long before she came to America she wrote poetry, which became the foundation for her desire to express thoughts on paper. Walking with the Lord for almost thirty years had given her many life encounters, testing her faith, bringing learning experiences and guidance. She was able to grow as a person along the way. All this is based on the biblical truths and advisory capacity of the Bible. Becoming a better person she feels can be achieved through conscious pursuit and personal desire of the individual. The author hopes her book will touch people’s lives in a very positive way helping them reach their potential by strengthening and enhancing their faith in God. Her teaching experience contributes to her ability to bring the book captivating message in a palpable manner to her audience.

    Prologue

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

    —John 14:27, NIV

Please stop for a moment. Place your belongings away and sit down. Don’t you need to put your feet up? Make yourself comfortable, close your eyes, relax and enjoy the sound of the wind. Listen to its music, it softly swooshes playing with the leaves but most significantly it blends with the voice of the Lord. Be patient and attentive now. God never yells He speaks softly but distinctly. He speaks with authority. When we listen carefully, we can hear Him. If He calls on us, in order to distinguish Him from the evil one, we should rely on the message itself, for the Holy Spirit will reveal the truth and separate it from the lie. Throughout the course of history, God spoke to Adam, Eve, Noah, Job, Jacob, David, Solomon, Elijah, Isaiah, Jonah, Hosea, Zechariah, Moses, and so it goes. You and I may be next.

    What makes us listen?

When we trust someone, we listen. In my experience I have heard You, Father, many times; and I knew it was—You. I did test the spirits. I made sure I asked more than once. Then, you assured me. She reminded me how her life had changed the day I told her You prompted me to help her. Father, You change lives, and You use us to be the carriers of good news. All we need to do is listen to you and obey.

The day I sat down to write the first pages of this book, it was You who spoke, and I kept writing. In less than a few hours, the first story was finished. I was on
