    About the Author

    Foreword

I clearly remember that after Medium Memoirs was first published in 2014, I wondered if there would be a sequel. Could there possibly be additional stories and lessons from my medium sessions that hadn’t already emerged?

While finishing the book, I had solidified my commitment to delivering medium messages. In fact, I had received personal requests scheduled for six months ahead—and not just from clients on earth. Through my sessions, I had recently discovered that the souls on the other side are still learning, and that our loved ones are looking for personal readings with us, too. They want us to know that they see our lives. In fact, they’re contacting us more frequently. These advanced conversations with spirit led me to believe that there is always more knowledge to obtain and share, because we’re all growing in spirit and perhaps evolving simultaneously.

Nonetheless, I didn’t foresee a sequel right away; my focus was elsewhere. After a few years of channeling, I had the epiphany that while I work with clients here on earth, my true purpose is to serve the spirits in the after-life who wish to contact them. These spirits are beyond inspiring. They consistently offer messages of love, support, and crazy details about our lives that confirm their ability to observe us. They can describe details of your house, ask for other relatives, tell you who they are, and discuss up-to-the-minute information about the rest of the family. My earthly clients are in turn comforted by the knowledge that their relationships with loved ones can continue in a non-physical manner. There’s truly a spiritual embrace that takes place when I see the relief, gratitude, and tears expressed. Offering each message of love is a blessing for all mediums, small or extra-large.

In 2014, I thought my mission was to continue serving the dead—but not dead clients. The very first medium gathering after the book came out was never to be forgotten. In fact, I thought I was going to lose my reputation as the happy medium over this incident. Let me explain.

At the time, I was holding private medium groups for up to twelve people in a back room of the yoga studio I owned in NJ. Any families in attendance were asked to sit together so that the spirits could find them more easily. When all the guests had arrived, I would describe how the evening might unfold and offer examples of how messages were typically delivered. I always had crystal bowls playing while people relaxed and I worked with spirit, receiving messages and transcribing them to my tablet. About twenty minutes later, I would deliver the messages verbally. Sometimes, though, I provided appetizers when someone’s loved one came in abruptly rather than waiting for the evening’s messaging segment.

In the session in question, one spirit was very assertive and forced me to engage an elderly woman. Lola was in her late 80s and had been escorted in by her daughter, Sandra. After they took a seat in the circle, I served the medium appetizer to Lola: it was from Victoria, her deceased mother. Spirit Victoria came in immediately, identifying herself and providing a few other symbolic dates, clothing items, and a description of her time and circumstance of death. This was specific information that only Lola, her daughter, could verify.

Lola became overwhelmed. She cried and wailed loudly and uncontrollably for a few minutes. She was in shock at being able to talk to her mother. The rest of the group was moved by this emotional outcry but respectful of how penetratingly this process was affecting her. Lola was a frail woman and looked like she was going to faint. I offered Lola water and a more comfortable chair, but she declined. However, her daughter Sandra said that she would be okay and that she should stay for more messages from her mom. Sandra indicated that Lola had lost her mother when she was six years old. She had been begging for a reunion for her whole life.

To try and move on from this potent appetizer, I instructed Lola to lie down, breathe fully, and relax for the crystal bowl portion that was to begin in a few minutes. At this point, I was breathing heavily myself after witnessing Lola’s dramatic response. I paused and let the crystal sounds bring me into balance so that I might engage Spirit in a neutral way.

Channeling Victoria to Lola seemed like it had unearthed a lifetime of loss and loneliness. Yet this conscious connection was purposeful for all of us to witness. The ambiance of the room was shifting into a blissful state as each attendee began to resonate with the crystal bowls’ vibrations. Some people sat upright and others reclined. The room’s balance was orchestrated by Anna, who created crystal bowl melodies. Peace was temporarily restored as I transcribed the personal messages from Spirit for each person in the group.

When I was ready to share, I instructed the participants to awaken slowly and return to a seated position. Everyone did—except for Lola. She would not wake up. At first, she seemed to be in a trance. Then, she belted out a piercing scream asking her mother to take her—she wanted to be with her. A few of us tried lightly and then forcefully to wake Lola up from this delirious state. She continued to scream and demand that her momma take her. In that moment, all of us feared that this was possible. Were we watching a dramatic spiritual abduction?

A few of us lifted Lola up and got her something to drink, but she was in an altered state of mind. Fortunately, another participant came to her aid. She was a nurse, and when she took Lola’s pulse, she indicated that it was low. She instructed us to call for additional help. Nobody had ever seen anything like this before.

Finally and quite spontaneously, Lola began to take deeper breaths to restore herself. Sandra stepped in and talked sense into her mother. She was here on Earth and it was not time to be with Victoria yet. Lola had been shaken, confused, and challenged by the authentic peaceful reunion she had with her mother. Sandra’s words got through. In the moment of relief that Lola came back, we cried for what we witnessed. This was a miraculous exchange of life and after-life, an intense tug-of-love.

Sandra eventually escorted her mother out of the yoga center with promises to stay in touch about her well-being. When I called her the next day to inquire about Lola, she casually admitted that her mother had had several near-death experiences while having surgery in the past. Was this a spiritual surgery for Lola? Sandra promised that she would take Mom to the doctor as the group was sincerely concerned about her health. We started an email chain for the attendees to stay in communication, and it’s still active 6 years later.

We were all convinced that Lola had the power to truly leave her body on that occasion. Happily, she chose to stay here on earth. She now has tremendous faith that when she is truly ready to leave this planet, her mother will be waiting with open arms.

As a medium and business owner, this experience was worrisome on several levels. I panicked that participating clients could potentially feel ill in a medium session. This was an extreme notion for this happy medium, and I took full responsibility for the episode and the group’s experience. Since that day, I have refrained from offering long meditations in medium sessions in order to prevent my clients from going too deeply into realms beyond our own. I also formalized a disclaimer for medium sessions.

Spirit certainly answered my question: here was a unique story and lesson for both my clients and me. That evening taught us the profound nature of love, hope, and reunion, no matter the number of years we have been separated. It also showed me how much more there is left to learn from these medium sessions. Numerous people from all over the world have told me that my medium style is super-duper intense. I guess this was a warning to scale back the meditation frequency and be aware of participants’ fragile states!

As I evaluated this lesson, I eventually realized that I truly don’t have fear; I have faith. In the long term, Lola’s lesson inspired me to offer even more medium events—while teaching mindfulness with minimal meditation.

Immediately after setting the intention of offering this service in locations beyond the yoga center, I began to receive multiple offers to create medium events at diverse locations. Because the spirits can find you anywhere, I soon became a mobile medium in a Mini Cooper. On my four wheels, I can deliver messages and mindfulness to anyone.

Six years later, Medium Memoirs is still my way of sharing Spirit’s messages with curious readers far and wide. The stories in this book are just as universal now as they were then, and I hope their messages of hope and unconditional love reach you wherever you are. As you read, I hope you’ll remember that there’s still so much more to learn. If you’re looking for
