About this ebook

Great things come in small packages. This little package in the form of a book(let) is power packed just like the author, who is now just arriving at her sixtieth birthday, though she looks closer to thirty-nine (ha!). This small but intense ride of a book is a good-hearted thumbing of the nose at the big six-o. This book is designed to uplift and motivate the reader to overcome their obstacles and blockages and is an aching this and that for learning how to make their time on this spinning orb as dynamic and full of joy as possible. A perfect tonic for those reaching these vaunted heights in age or those who just want to stay young in spirit, this book has a little bit of everything—from attitude/gratitude workshops to daily practical wellness tips, to visualization, to more helpful versions of the ABCs, to illuminating discussions of the joys (not) of menopause. What more do you need?

Enjoy the ride!

    INTRODUCTION &

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

It’s a beautiful morning in Paradise with light trade winds, the crystal blue ocean and the south shore waves beckoning. We are relaxing on the top deck of our Sunday ‘staycation,’ a 43-foot yacht moored at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor adjacent to Waikiki and have just completed our usual beach walk. As my husband Tom was stroking my long, wavy, black hair (which by-the-way I haven’t colored yet, thank heavens) a couple of birds flew past the upper deck just chirping away without a care in the world. That’s the life, to fly anywhere you want to go, it seems to me they were born with the right attitude.

Then it just came to me that, ‘Wow, in one month I will be turning the Big 6-0.’ Funny, I don’t feel old, I feel great & people keep telling me all the time, ‘You don’t look your age... What is your secret? What do you eat? What do you do when you wake up? Where do you exercise?’ and so on. As my brain is processing all this I thought, perhaps I should write another book to share my normal routine and daily thought processes.... What are the key choices I have made to get me where I am at...? Still Sexy at Sixty, Happy, Healthy & Wise.

Throughout the day, I kept thinking about this new book and proceeded to get more and more excited; I could barely contain myself. As my husband Tom and I hung out on the upper deck, enjoying a magnificent Hawaiian sunset together, with the ocean, the waves, the surfers, I scanned the horizon, waiting for the sun to set, and continued to visualize writing my 3rd book. It felt as though this is perfect timing to have a BIG celebration of my 60th birthday with a book signing aboard the Sunset Dinner Cruise on July 4th (believe it or not, my birthday) on board the popular Star of Honolulu.

I could so clearly visualize exactly how I wanted this celebration, with friends and family (at least those who don’t get seasick), wearing my signature red, white and blue outfit (that I will design), and indulging in an onoliscious steak & lobster meal followed by a melt-in-your-mouth creamy butter cake, and topping it off with an up close and personal fireworks show.

And so, I visualized, and visualized, and pondered all the things that would make up an unforgettable celebration, and then I had to pinch myself; there were only 30 days until my birthday. Is it even possible to organize this event in such a short time, let alone writing the book? I shared this to my husband, who reminded me of the thirty days, and my otherwise hectic schedule… A valid point, I thought, maybe it is not doable in this tight schedule, but then I thought, I have been a multi-tasker, doing 2 to 3 projects at a time in the past, so maybe if I can put my thoughts into writing, then I can still continue to make a positive impact or change people’s lives for the better. I have long admired and emulated such icons as Dr. Lawrence Tseu, Emily Baptiste, Mother Teresa, Mary Kay Ash, Oprah Winfrey, and for their extraordinary efforts to touch people’s lives. That’s my main purpose in life, to continue making a difference. So, I figured, ‘What the heck, why not?’ So, I convinced myself that if it is to be, it’s up to me and if there’s a will, there’s a way.

For a ‘reality check’, I shared this book idea with the creative genius John Rustin and his beautiful wife Cynthia Altman. I met this dynamic duo through Dexter Do, my close friend for over 15 years. I told John that I was struggling with the book’s title and without hesitation, John said how about ‘Attitude is My Thing’, which seemed like a good idea at the time. In revising this book during ‘Corona Time’, and listening to friends/colleagues that were devastated by job losses, etc, I felt the need to change the title to ‘It’s All About Attitude’ which is more in line with how we can all face these unprecedented and challenging times.

God has been my savior, my strength in the midst of triumph & turbulence which he reminds me from time to time to always exercise my Million Dollar Attitude. We all go through LIFE but how do we deal with such complexities especially now with all the different gadgets, social media etc. With a Positive Attitude we can always navigate the direction we want... Just like with resistance training in the gym, it’s a process and if we want results, we
