About this ebook

This book is a compilation of poems aimed at children and young teens. It covers a wide range of genres with short poems suitable for children under 10 years old, to longer story-based poems and abstract poems that can be left open to interpretation. Its aim is to encourage reading and to share everyday experiences in a way that is easy to understand.
Many of these poems are inspired by my memories from actual situations, and others are made up. I find that writing poetry is a way of capturing certain ideas, hopes, and dreams and a way to entertain others. I hope that by reading this you will understand these and enjoy imagining different scenarios even in your own life.
This is a unique collection of poems as they can be read not only for children but are suitable for the whole family. Some of which are humorous, and others have a more thoughtful tone to highlight subjects that can generate discussion and overall project different perspectives on life.
I hope you will enjoy reading these and share them with others as I have shared them with you.

Other hobbies of hers include swimming, learning to speak new languages, cooking, and computing. Some of her poetry has been selected to be published as a part of a Young Writers compilation. Her main influences being inspiration from her family, local school, and from a wide range of authors and poets, including Shakespeare and Roald Dahl. Her style and tone of writing is characteristic and descriptive, suitable for young readers to appreciate and enjoy. Many of her poems had been stimulated by the excitement of viewing things through young eyes and personal experiences.

    A Loyal Pet Dog

    You race around,

    Barking through surprise.

    Your nose is wet,

    But never my eyes.

I could watch you chase your tail,

In large circles you would run.

    Full of energy and tireless,

You’re a great big bundle of fun.

You could play fetch all day long

And howl up at the sky.

You’d stay next to my bed to protect me,

    While I sleep tight.

    Wagging your tail,

    You’re a gift from above.

    As happy as a lark,

You’re a vessel of my love.

    Hammie, My Furry Little Hamster

    You’d sleep all day,

    Then gnaw all night.

    Climbing around in your cage,

    You were such a sight.

I’d pick you up and hold you,

And feed you a sunflower seed.

You’d climb up my sleeves, exploring,

    So glad to be freed.

I would put you in your ball,

My cousins put you in the empty bath.

    Any space you’d run around;

I loved to watch you and laugh.

    You escaped from your cage,

    And climbed into my drawers,

    At inconvenient moments,

    Making all attention yours.

    December thirteenth I found you,

    Not moving any more.

Spirit with God and body in your cage,

A sunflower seed in your paws.

    Rabbit’s Race

    Rabbit ran so very fast,

He just knew he couldn’t be last.

He saw the Hare behind his tail,

With a false turn it was lost on another trail.

    Rabbit’s heartbeat was racing,

When he saw the troubles he
