Brandon Roberson

My name is Brandon Roberson. I’m a U.S. Army Veteran, a musician and artist. I was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida. I’m twenty-nine years old and this is my first book. I am no English major or professor. This is a self-edited book and I’m sure I’ve made some errors along the way. I have always wanted to write a book and I now have finally competed that goal. I wanted to write a book that was non-stop with very little breaks. I wanted to grab the reader and make them not want to put it down. This is my first go around and if I have a good response to Axel Ivory, I will definitely work on bettering my skill and will write another one.

I dedicate this book to my family and friends. I have an amazing support chain. Without these people in my life I couldn’t accomplish the things that I have done. I dedicate this to Jennifer Roberson, Douglas Roberson, Justin Roberson, Jennifer Fiore, Cami and Henry Roberson. My other side Michelle Spicer, Taylor and Devon. I also dedicate this to my close friends that have been through a lot with me and have always stood by my side through thick in thin. I thank you guys and girls so much for what you have done. A huge thanks and a lot of love go to Aryan, Alyssa, and Annabelle Roscoe. Jeffery Fillman, Madeline Carduner, Ashley Tillman, Matthew Addeo, Tyler Thompson and Eric Jenkins. Thank you everyone who I’ve mentioned as well as the ones I did not. Without you this book and my life would be nothing.

    CHAPTER 1

    In the Beginning

I CAN HEAR THE growls and snapping of branches in the jungle behind me. Loud thunderous paws pound the ground, almost at the pace of my heart beat. Except mine is feeling like it’s about to give up at any moment. There’s not much room for errors in this place. Tight, winding, thick jungle brush blocks the nonexistent paths. Snakes and spiders along with Tony the Tiger chasing behind me. Thick, treacherous, thorny vines drape down like guillotines ready to behead you. Let’s not forget the random boulders and drop offs that would give any roller coaster a run for its money! It’s not what I would say is a fantasy fulfilling paradise vacation.

I need to get away from this Tiger though.

As I see up ahead a slight decline that bends to the left and drops off. I keep my fingers crossed when I make my turn, the raging river won’t be too far out of reach and I can swim to safety. As soon I make the turn, my right foot catches a vine, flipping me head over heels, slamming into every piece of nature I could find. I hit the bottom with a loud thud.

Dazed, I slowly raise my head and see my salvation. There it was, the river. I gathered every bit of strength I had left and just as I was about to take off, a frightening, deep growl, and gut trembling roar came from behind me.

I was frozen, like I had just peered into Medusas eyes.

The snapping of twigs and branches, made me realize that’s probably what my bones are going to sound like. I felt like he was taunting me, I could hear him snarling and licking his lips behind me.

I thought to myself, the only way I can buy enough time to make it to the river is to use my flare gun. I have been saving it for what feels like a month now, I really need it to signal someone, if anybody even gets out to come search for me. My options are limited, now I have no choice but to use it.

As, he crept closer, I could feel the ground shake a little from his heavy paws. I made my decision, I quickly reached for my flare gun that was held in my belt between my pants and hip.

I turned and fired. A loud bang and bright light lit up the area from the fireball. For a moment, I was a little dazed, but so was the tiger. Struggling, as my feet tried over and over to get traction, kicking up rocks and dust I took off for the river. Not three seconds later, the tiger gave suit. Running for my life, which felt like an eternity, I jumped from the bank.

    Eight feet later.

Splash! I hit the water like an Olympic diver.

I took a moment under water to regain my composure. I surfaced and looked behind me to make sure the big cat didn’t take the plunge either. Thankfully, he just gave a glare, snarled and slinked away.

Ppwehh, as I turn and swim towards the bank on the other side of the river, I can see
