When You Bully, You Lose!
()
About this ebook
When you bully someone, you might lose your family, friends, job, or self for only a few minutes of power. What’s more, the pain of being bullied can last a very long time.
Katie and Willie Crab are excited to go to the pool, but when they get there, King Crab—the biggest and meanest of the crabs—pushes them around and drags them down to the bottom. Snow Crab tries to speak up for the smaller crabs and for little Freddie Shrimp, but King won’t listen to anybody. Then one day a boat arrives, and the humans above throw down a large net meant to catch crabs. As the net closes in, King Crab keeps pulling the smaller crabs down to the bottom to keep them from swimming away. Will any of the crabs be able to escape?
This children’s story tells the tale of King Crab, who bullies the smaller sea creatures but soon learns that being a bully can ruin your life.

INTRODUCTION
Growing up on the gulf in a southern town where seafood was the norm, I saw many types of seafood, but the ones that intrigued me the most were the crabs. After a successful fishing trip, crabs sat in a tin tub in the middle of our kitchen floor. They fascinated me as they climbed and pulled on each other. They walked on each other, determined that none would escape. The crabs were their own worst enemies. They reminded me of people who felt trapped in life and resented anyone who tried to escape their traps, bullying and pulling them until none could get out.
This tub of crabs had no lid, yet they could not escape. Why? Simple. When one made it to the top of the tub, another pulled him back down. If one did get out of the tub, there was always someone to pick him up, and back into the tub he went. As I watched, I thought about the school I attended. There was always someone taunting and bullying another. The weaker one was the butt of every mean prank or joke. I was considered one of the weak ones simply because I was never the pretty, popular girl. Like those crabs, I was trapped in a tub with an invisible lid.
Bullying has many faces. To be ignored and lonely in a crowd is a terrible feeling. I remember walking up to
