My Journey into Understanding
Spiritual Life at an Early Age
E very person on earth has a story to share about experiences they’ve faced in life. I am certainly not an exception to this rule. I still vividly remember and wonder about events that happened in my life when I was eleven or twelve years old.
My first reaction to this event made me ponder a question: How did I say that?
Let me share that event here, and readers will understand the thoughts of an eleven- or twelve-year-old’s quest to unravel an answer to a question. I was basically an athlete and loved playing football—or some may say soccer. After my athletic practice, I played football with friends on a field where one of the good football teams of that time in Mumbai practiced. The players on that football team were my heroes. I witnessed their match proceeding, as far as possible, on the field during ‘Rovers Cup Tournament’ matches in Mumbai, India to see that they won every match. However, due to exams on one occasion, I could not go see the match, and the team was playing against one of India’s best teams.
While taking a break from my studies in the evening, I went out on our terrace, and one of our neighbors, who also liked my favorite team, asked me about the results of the match that day. I asked him, Why?
And he said he was busy at his job and did not see the match.
In a big show-off, I said, Our team won five goals to nil,
even though I had not gone to see the match that day. I went home to continue with my studies and forgot about the whole incident.
The next day, I opened up the newspaper and turned to the sports page. I was shocked to read the report that my favorite team had actually won the match by defeating the other team five goals to nothing. Many questions flooded my soul as to how I could predict the correct results of the match. I had no answer to the question, and life moved on.
A couple of years passed, and somewhere around March 1970, my mother asked me to attend a church convention. I avoided going, but she insisted that I should at least go with her on the last day of the convention.
In order to please my mother, I said yes. She went to the penultimate service of the convention, and I stayed at home. Late in the evening, I opened my Bible and read scriptures at random from the first book of Peter in the New Testament. The following day, I went to the convention with my mother, just to please her. It was time for the preacher to read the passage of scriptures for his last message, and I realized it was the same passage from first Peter that I had read the previous evening. I was amazed and surprised to hear the same passage I read the day before going to the convention.
With this background, I began my spiritual journey at an early age. I share this because many people can relate to what I have written here. They may wonder how these kinds of events happened to them and are without an answer.
I will certainly share a prophesy I gave in a church service twenty years ago (i.e., 1999) during the dedication service of a little girl. This prophesy came alive while writing this incredible book. I will share this prophesy in the last chapter.
I wanted to understand the scripture from 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV) that always challenged my life: No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
In simple language, it is paraphrased as ‘God will not give you more than you can handle; if you face a big challenge, you have a big destiny’. But now let me move on in my journey toward reaching the divine appointment God had for me.

Initial Thoughts
E ven though my spiritual journey may have begun in the year 1970, I avoided getting involved in it because of a lack of interest. As the years passed, and being a believer in Christ Jesus, I also watched television programs, mostly on the National Geographic Wild channel. My desire was to see God’s creation with its hidden beauty and to marvel at His creative power. I once watched a documentary titled Searching for the Snow Leo pard.
This documentary helped me understand the courage of researchers who search for wildlife in real life. This search was with respect to habitations of wild animals, their natural instincts, and their living habits. The documentary also showcased the ways wild animals communicate with other species in the wild.
The title suggested that the documentary was about snow leopards, and the team of researchers focused their search on the Indian side of the Himalayas. I watched the team of researchers and guides, with donkeys loaded with food and other materials, heading toward Mount Everest to a height of about fifteen thousand feet. They had to set up their camps where the oxygen level was very low.
These snow leopards live in subzero temperatures in dangerous altitudes of the Himalayas. Some parts of our world are brutal, and any creatures surviving in those conditions, such as these snow leopards, are termed legends.
The researchers conducted their search in the state of Jammu and Kashmir National Park for nearly four years. It’s the best place to see snow leopards, mountain goats, and wolves. The researchers did their studies, which involved not only triumphs when gathering information about these big cats but also tragedies.
The researchers had to walk very difficult terrain to collect information about the cats, which included mapping cats’ movements using video cameras with security measures. One can call it a silent roar in search of the snow leopard.
The study revealed that snow leopards move on ice-covered mountains in subzero temperatures. Individual leopards have their personal identities. They never change their spots. However, these big cats avoid wolves while hunting. Usually, leopards have a private life between the male and female that can only be glimpsed in a study of snow leopards.
After the documentary ended, it was pause time for me. Wow! What an effort to risk one’s own life to go out on an adventurous path to search for and study the habitats and living conditions of animals in such remote places!
With this type of endurance in search of God’s creation, with some people having great passion and enthusiasm while facing challenges, why is it so difficult for godly people to search God’s heart to know His will for
