The Truth That Hides
For everyone in the darker times of life—
don’t give up on yourself, and don’t give in.
For the person I used to be.
Can you believe all that your pain came to be.
Thank you for fighting.
FUTURE
1945.jpgTo the body that lay lifeless on the bathroom floor but still inhaled, I see you. To the soul that was haunted by the lies others told, fight the voices that managed to dig inside of your head. To the one with dried blood caked on their thigh, it’s okay to cry. Hidden behind locked doors, praying they don’t find you, darling, push for your tomorrow. To the death that lived inside of me, know that you have no place in these bones. This is for the weak who bullied me every day. This is for the hopeless girl I was. This is for Satan, who attacked me every day. I now know my worth, and I have seen the future. I know where evil goes to rot.
ALL ALONG
1945.jpgEvery once in a while, I stop to catch my breath. It’s truly amazing the growth I have made since you left. I’d like to believe that you would be proud of me. As the days go by and leaves change, I start to recognize the change in me. It isn’t so bad, not like I thought; maybe change is necessary for a person to develop. I want to say that you had a part in making me who I am, but I am different from you. I smile on command, and I can overcome the difficulties in front of me. I know you care, and you want the best for me. I am not the things that happened to me; I get to decide who I want to be. I’ll love you forever. Don’t get me wrong. Maybe the strength wasn’t in you but in me all along.
3114.pngSWEET DREAMS
1945.jpgI will never get a good night’s sleep because while I lie here in between sheets, I realize what’s to come. Soon you’ll lie in the same position, 750 miles away. I’m crying aloud inside my head. The stars, although I reach, are still miles and miles from me. They may be bright, but what comes next is day. So as I lie counting worries, never sheep, I’ll be reminded to cast my cares—not for a big part but far away, just like you’ll be, 750 miles from me.
HONESTY
1945.jpgBehind untold lies is proof how scared I am. You will no longer be holding my hand. I know you have to be on your own; I need to understand. Do what you need; I’ll be okay. I’ll say that I love you through it all; the truth that hides is underlined and signed. It reads that you’re a part of me that will never leave. Even in your
