Introduction
A Man Called Ove is a simple and heartwarming story about a man who thinks he has nothing left to live for and then goes on to find purpose in life. Written by Swedish author, Fredrik Backman, the book was published in 2012 in Sweden. It was translated into English and published in 2013. The protagonist is a man called Ove, whose attempts to commit suicide are repeatedly thwarted by his neighbors. Eventually, he is glad his attempts do not work because he eventually finds something to live for.
The background story starts with the death of Ove’s wife, Sonja. With her death, he loses all purpose in life but continues to go to work like an automaton. A few months after burying his wife, Ove gets retirement forced upon him by his company, after working there for three decades. Suddenly, he finds himself at a loose end and decides to join
