About this ebook
From the Pen of a Ready Writer is a collection of poems from a woman still recovering from the storms of life but who continues to receive God’s love and grace. God inspires her words, and she uses biblical verses to support her poems and remind readers that He sees our joy but also our pain.
Rebecca’s poetry is an inspiration to a hurting world. She hopes to encourage those traveling through the journey of life, experiencing both the good and the bad. Rebecca is a blessed survivor of domestic violence, and poetry is her response. To those hurting, to those seeking purpose, her poems extend a divinely inspired hand and provide strength when all we feel is weak.
Rebecca Grace Stone
Rebecca Grace Stone was born and raised on a farm in Alabama. She received her BS in nursing from Tuskegee University. She served in the US Army Nurse Corp and reached the rank of captain. She started writing poetry at the age of nine, when she used to hide her work under her mattress.

Preface
6907.pngI was born and raised on a farm. My father was a farmer, and my mother was a housewife. I had eight siblings. I chopped and picked cotton during free time after school. We had a good time singing church songs in the cotton fields, and most of my friends were around.
I began writing poetry at nine years of age and hid each sheet under my mattress. My pen was ready to write on any subject that sparked my interest or that spoke to me from deep within. Poetry became my voice of response. Later, my poetry became an inspiration to a hurting world. Also at nine years old, I received the Holy Ghost—my born-again experience with God, which I will never forget. During my younger years, I would sit on the porch and ask Him to do things, and He would do them. My closeness to God was awesome. It changed my life.
I was an A student, finishing high school second in my class. I graduated from college and became a registered nurse. I worked for a while in nursing and joined the army later.
At thirty-two years old, I was shot three times with a .357 Magnum by my then husband after only three weeks of marriage, enduring thirty-two facial reconstructive surgeries. After I was shot, I was given a 15 percent chance to live, but God sustained me. Expert doctors work with me to this day.
