About this ebook
Being a teenager during today's times is filled with many choices and challenges. You are at a critical point in your life in that the decisions you make today can have long term and even lifetime consequences. There's no question that the pressure's on. But despite the challenges that lie ahead of you, you can make it. Believe it or not, there are thousands of teenagers just like you who are on the right track taking positive charge of their lives.
Despite what some people think or what the media tries to make you believe, you are not destined to become a statistic for the six o'clock news. You were genetically coded for greatness. You can do and be anything that you set your mind to. If you make the decision to stay on the right track and work towards your goals, you will be a success. Why? Because the most important factor in your success is your determination to succeed. This book was written to serve as your success guide. It will motivate, inspire and challenge you to do what you need to do to become successful in every area of your life – school, work, family, friends and the pursuit of your dreams.
Young, Gifted and Doing It provides you with fifty-two power moves that you can make each week in order to: get your self-esteem into high gear, get along better with your parents, choose friends wisely, go after your goals, develop smart money management habits, make good decisions, take control of the things that can get in the way of your success and develop your full potential. Each power move focuses on a different topic. It should take you about 15 minutes or so to grasp what you need in order to successfully manage that specific issue. By the time you complete this book, you'll not only be better prepared to handle the many issues that confront today's teens, you'll also be able to plan your next power move or moves.
Young, Gifted and Doing It is written so that you can make one power move per week. That's all it takes – a time commitment of one day per week. And believe it or not, one power move per week can make a big difference, if you are serious about your success. Although this book is set up for you to use on a weekly basis, you don't have to use it this way. You can look through the table of contents, select the power moves that most interest you and work on those first.
Read the power moves, apply the power moves and share them with your friends. It is my hope that this book will inspire you to go after your dreams and walk in the fullness of your potential.

A Message From The Author To Parents,
Teachers and Youth Service Providers
––––––––
As you already know, positioning teenagers for success is both challenging and rewarding. One minute it seems like you’re getting through, expanding their horizons and helping them develop skills to make smart choices that lead to positive outcomes. The next minute, they’re resisting your efforts and literally tuning you out. As soon as you begin to make some real headway, it seems like all your efforts are for naught. Just keep planting seeds, because sooner or later they will take root. And your teens will thank you for it – most of the time.
The good news is most teenagers want to succeed. And believe it or not, they want our input and guidance. Most teenagers want to do well in school and make the people who care about them proud. Most teenagers want to go on to college or find a decent paying job where they can build on their strengths, earn the respect of their colleagues and increase their opportunities for growth and advancement. Some want to start their own businesses. They want to stay out of trouble and become productive citizens who vote, advocate for themselves and make a difference in the lives of others. They want to share their knowledge and experiences as well as learn from yours. Most importantly, they want you to see how valuable, capable, smart and competent they are. And it goes without saying that they want to be loved. But they need our help.
Whether you’re a parent, an educator, counselor, social worker or an adult who is simply committed to the success of teens, it is important that you help teens to arm themselves with tools and information that will enable them to boost their self-esteem, succeed in school, resist negative peer pressure, rise above adversity and go after their goals with persistent tenacity.
Young, Gifted and Doing It provides teenagers with a blueprint for success in these areas and many more. From taking responsibility for their future, to developing effective time management and study habits, to building high moral character, to developing social skills that they can utilize for the rest of their lives, throughout this book teens are equipped with power moves that they can apply in just about every facet of life.
I truly encourage you to read Young, Gifted and Doing It in its entirety including the tips for parents, teachers and youth workers. Then, consider applying one or more of the power moves to your own life and see what a difference it makes. Also, use the discussion guide in the back of this book to explore some of the issues that impact today’s teens.
