Francisco A Vega
My name is Francisco A. Vega. I was born with hydrocephalus, commonly known as fluid on the brain. Shortly after being born the medical personnel rushed me to the ER and placed a VP shunt in my head to release the pressure from my brain. I kept having complications with my VP shunt growing up and in the year 2000 I went blind. I may have lost my vision, but I never lost the vision in my mind or my heart. I have always aspired to become a writer. However, with all of the tribulations circling my life it just did not seem feasible. At the age of 17, I lived with my dad in Puerto Rico. I was a merchandiser for a toy company, a showroom organizer and presenter of new toys on my island. When I lost my vision I felt as though I had lost everything, but I did not. You can never lose your dreams and I have had many dreams through out the years. Creating my own invention with professional help, I keep reaching for the stars. Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. Remember the world is yours. In the year 2008, I became a dad to a healthy baby boy name Mariano, whom I love beyond words. I had never given up on my dreams. My oldest brother Javier always encouraged me to never give up on my dreams and that there is always a way to reach your dreams. My thanks to him for believing in me. To my fiancé Rosa, thank you so much for believing in me and supporting my ideas. Love you always. My book is about a little girl named Free and her encounter with one of the Little People. This young girl grew up and gave birth to a Lucky Baby Boy named Frank. Everywhere he went luck seemed to follow. Frank found an island that wasn’t like any other island while snorkeling, which was one of his passions. On this island everything was strange and different. Flowers and plants did not look like any flowers or plants he had ever seen before. They looked like if they were crossed with other flowers. The very first flower he saw was very tall, like a light pole. Orange stump, leaves shaped like yellow triangles with raised green lines and white circle petals with raised red dots. Frank was stunned, but didn’t know what to do. Should he tell someone about it? There were animals crossed mixed with other animals. The whole island seemed to be alive. He loved visiting this magic island, it was like a dream. Little People? Magic Island? How are they related? Well…Let’s find out! Love, Tony

The Lucky Baby Boy - Francisco A Vega
Chapter One
In the year 1990, in a town called Peace, an eight year old named Free lived there with her parents, Rosy and Tony. Peace had beautiful lakes and golden fields. Free loved to play and spend time with all sorts of wild insects and small animals. She loved gardening and had a magical green thumb
, everything she planted bloomed beautifully. Free loved spending time in the forrest, however, from time to time, she would get in trouble with her parents for loosing track of time and arriving home late.
Due to Free’s intelligence, she kept advancing through the grades. Now in fourth grade, very little had changed in her life. Although her passion and happiness were mainly in the fields of Peace, Free loved to spend time with children her age in school, making her a bit sad at the end of the school day when she had to return home.
Free’s dad, Tony, was a hard working man. He kept food on the table and took care of his family. Tony loved fishing and many times invited Free to come a long. Free, feeling sad for the fish captured, turned down her dad’s offer every time.
Free, like every day, loved exploring in the woods for new bugs and strange plants. Another thing that she held very dearly, was going snorkeling and looking for precious stones. On one occasion, as the sun began to fade, Free was getting out of the lake to head home, when a shinning light coming from a small island caught her attention. She got back into the water and headed towards the island. As she approached the tiny island, the light became brighter.
Now on the island, Free noticed the light coming from a small rock and changing colors. Now facing the small rock, Free got on one knee and lifted the rock. Nothing could have prepared her for what she seen next.
Chapter Two
A light, as bright as the sun, leaked from under the rock. Once Free’s eyes were adjusted she discovered a world, a hidden world, right under our very own. She tried to reach inside, when she felt what she believed to be a squirrel, grasp her hand with it’s little paws. She pulled her hand away and was startled by a voice coming from within telling her not to be afraid. Scared, yet curious, Free remained still. What she saw would change her life forever.
You see, this was a little person, perhaps a foot tall, with a big head and a little body. This little person introduced himself as Mariano. He wore businessman’s clothes and his voice sounded very soothing. Mariano tried to explain to little Free, that she was staring into our future and to make a wish for her future child to be.
Free, confused, just stared at him. Mariano explained that he knew this was too much to bear and that chances were she would not remember this very night in the near future. The little person was very understanding and patient. Free closed her eyes and after a brief moment, she asked for her future child simply to be lucky.
Now that Free was composed, yet still very nervous, she reached for her trusty binoculars and took a look inside. She saw a world with beautiful colors, flying cars, trains, and moving sidewalks. Intrigued, she asked, What year is it in your world Mariano?
