A Tangle of Magic is an amazing book full of adventure, excitement and love.

It all starts with a girl called Penelope Gardener. She’s … strange. First of all, she has grey hair even though she’s only ten. Penelope also smells of fire and can hear exactly what her mother is about to say before she has even said it. But one day, out of nowhere, Penelope’s boring grey hair transforms into a bright, wonderful red! When she tries to figure out what has happened to her hair, Penelope starts to discover some amazing things about herself and about her father, who she thought had died years before.

Talking roads, battery cats and an invisibility machine (well, only for ten seconds and then you lose your voice for a while afterwards) are some of the magical things that Penelope encounters in her quest to track
