Dedicated to:
My four fantastically wonderful children, who have supported me and believed in this from the very start. To all my friends who have been there for me through thick and thin. I could not have done this without you all. To Ness Helene BakkestrØm for her imaginative illustrations which have brought Freddy and all his friends’ story to life.
DOC0014.tifM ilo’s story began in the
dusty outback of Australia’s cavernous and untamed Northern Territory, where he played with his friends and explored all the amazing secret places his mum and dad taught him about when he was just an iddy biddy mouseling. He was an extremely lucky young mouse as Milo lived in a place with mystical caves, rugged mountains, and wide sandy riverbeds, that are as old as time itself. He was a typical young mouse who lived and foraged daily in Australia’s outback, a hazardous but fantastic place for all kinds of adventures.
When Milo and his friends got together, they loved nothing more than exploring and discovering new parts of their home. They got up to all kinds of exciting, mischievous exploits, yet surprisingly they always seemed to be OK at the end of each fantastical adventure.
Following a busy day of exploring and then a good night’s sleep, Milo was on his way to his favourite watering hole, Wongeroo Billabong, when he was stopped in his tracks by the strangest sight, one which he had never seen before, but had heard stories of. Milo decided to take a closer look, and when he did, goodness, what a surprise! Lying there on what seemed to be a very big soft green lily pad was a creature that just didn’t make sense to him. This animal only had two legs, strange paws, and a funny-looking face, and his fur was only on the top of his head.
DOC0041.tifVery silly, how does he keep himself
