Raising Girls into Extraordinary Young Women: A Mother’s Perspective
Author

Monica Hawkins Ph.D. M.P.H.

Ever since Dr. Hawkins’ son was a baby, countless parents, teachers, and coaches always asked her what she was doing that was special to raise her son. They always commented about how alert, intelligent, and curious he was as a baby. As her son grew older, people continued noticing how smart and articulate he was, how much self-esteem he displayed, and the natural leadership skills he possessed. Because of this, Dr. Hawkins decided to write her first book about how to raise an infant boy into an extraordinary young man for one reason – to inspire. Dr. Hawkins wants to ultimately motivate parents everywhere to raise their sons to be intelligent, self-confident, and extraordinary young men. She wrote a book for girls as well – Dr. Hawkins wanting parents of young girls to know that they can also raise their daughters to grow up to be confident, extraordinary young women. Dr. Hawkins is a proud wife, mother, sports fan, fitness lover, and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated! She is a mentor, tutor, and motivator. Dr. Hawkins earned her Ph.D. from George Mason University, her Master of Public Health from George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science from Howard University.

    Introduction

This book will change you and your daughter’s lives. It is written for every infant girl born so that she will grow up to be one of society’s successful and extraordinary young women. It is a known fact that there will be many obstacles that you and your daughters will face throughout their lives. Unfortunately, society sometimes finds it hard to accept extraordinary girls as being successful, but my life’s mission is that your daughters will become successful anyway. I want your daughters to always exude self-confidence, mental strength, intelligence, and other similar characteristics in every situation they encounter. I want these same characteristics to be developed in your daughters so that they can always stand out in a group setting. I want your daughters to always be noticeable in a group setting in positive ways. This means that they need to be self-confident in every situation they encounter so that individuals will always recognize them for being extraordinary. I know that this is easier said than done and that your daughters may get extremely nervous sometimes, and that is totally understandable. The more that your daughters practice being self-confident, they will soon begin to feel more comfortable each time displaying self-confidence. As an extraordinary parent, your job is to always create a safe place for
