Unshakable Parenting - Estephany Chesnut
Foreword
by Imani Ackerman
My friendship with Estephany began as many 21st century friendships begin: on social media. She quickly became my sister in Christ after she was introduced to me through one of my dear friends from middle school. Estephany went on to her share her beautiful and hilarious motherhood chronicles on my podcast. When she later asked me to write the foreword for Unshakable Parenting, I was beyond honored. She is a refreshingly humble woman who is about her Father's business and is more amazing than she knows. I have watched Estephany as she radically loves Jesus, her husband, Nathan, and her two little boys. I have had such rich conversations with her about authentically sharing the gospel. I have heard the cry of her heart to be in God's will for her life, to continue to allow God to keep her heart soft, teachable, and sensitive to His call.
Reading Unshakable Parenting, my breath was taken away. Here is a book written by a woman who has clearly heard from God and was gracious to share His encouragement with other mothers and fathers. As usual, I was in awe of Estephany's honesty and vulnerability, and Christ's love extended to her and through her to her family and to the reader. This is the book I desperately needed when I first became a mom, and it is the gentle reminder I still need today. In it, Estephany guides us in considering what it means to be a child of God raising the children of God. As I read, I felt the Holy Spirit call me to trade in my perfectionism, unrealistic expectations, failures, and flaws, and allow the sufficiency of Jesus to use my weaknesses in my parenting for His glory. I felt the healing balm of God's forgiveness soothe the places where I continuously condemned and beat myself up for mistakes I had made and regretted as a mother. I felt challenged and empowered to repent, take up my cross, and obey God in the small things He calls me to do. I had hope that God would lead me and stay by my side and have my back as I live out the mandate to train up my children in the way they should go.
Upon finishing this book, I thanked my friend, You ministered to me, girl.
We laughed and cried joyfully together about God's goodness to the Chesnut Family, the vision God gave them, and how Jesus is using this book internationally, to touch people's lives.
I have read books where I have wondered if the author is the same as who they make themselves to be in their writing. Estephany Chesnut is the real deal. And God
