Terry L Dismore
Initially, Terry Dismore was pursuing her professional career as a health care administrator at a prestigious New York hospital. After the birth of her children, however, her focus and disposition yielded to the call of motherhood. Terry recently moved from New York to a small town in North Carolina. Her home is surrounded by a forest, providing the perfect idyllic surroundings in a picturesque community bursting with nature, which is perfect for dreaming and writing. In her leisure time, she likes to take long walks, solve puzzles, travel, read, eat ice cream, watch romance movies, and dance like no one is watching. Terry has a masters degree in Elementary Education and a New York state certification in Education Administration and is a certified DreamBuilder Coach. She has more than thirty years experience as a parent. For thirty-six years, she worked with a diverse population of students and parents. Terry has a passion for workshop curriculum, developing and implementing parent-based lectures. Terrys workshop topics are formulated from her thesis, Parental Involvement and the effects linked to Academic Achievement, and bridge the gap between home and school, fostering academic excellence, social development, parental involvement, empowerment, and encouragement for everyone. Terry is ready to lead the way in a discussion highlighting the pivotal role women play in todays society while raising children. She appeared on a parenting edition of 20/20; has received awards for workshop presentations; has developed mentoring programs, community tutorial services, international programming for cultural awareness, museums created for children by children, and a science research program; has provided childrens books for a library in Africa; and more. Becoming a new mom was nervous and puzzling for Terry, and she realized that everything comes with instructions except children. When her parenting journey began, there was little to no information. Terrys quest was always to provide her children with the best tools possible for them to do well in school and in life. Her philosophy and mission statement have been honed and refined over the years while she raised three children and worked with students and parents in a diverse community. She comes to serve parents and children with the hope of a better future. That future begins with you. Terry refers to herself as your ME (motivational encourager), guide, and certified DreamBuilder Coach. Writing Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S. was emotionally cathartic and life-affirming for her. Youve invited to join her in leadership, purpose, vision, and commitment to a better future. She has a driven desire and mission for the best possible outcome for families. She is doing what mothers do best, and that is to share information for the good of us all. Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S. is a resource of information for increased parental awareness and involvement.

There are different phases of exploring the many talent(s) of children. Don’t be afraid to allow children to make a mess. It’s in the mess that the freedom of having fun unleashes creativity and talent!

Coaching Time With Terry
TO THE FATHERS
To the fathers who hold a sacred place in the hearts and lives of children.
This book is for you! You may notice I use a lot of mothering
language in this book. Studies have shown that women will be the majority of my readership (and as a mother, I can best relate to other mothers). But my heart is to share with all members of society.
Thank you for being present and for encouraging and inspiring your children to be the very best they can be.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Thank you, Emanuel Dismore Jr., for your editing contributions and being a storage vessel of information.

Desirée has compassion for people and is a champion for those in need. She majored in public relations. Thank you for utilizing 100 percent of my parenting skills, which helped me to write Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
Deneen Dismore is my second daughter who was born observant, quiet, and shy. She came into the world without a ripple. She has a smile that melts your heart. She has since become an articulate communicator with a passion for helping others in their struggles for health, wellness, and fitness as a Beachbody coach. Her name means beloved one.
Deneen majored in marketing and is a social media wiz. Thank you for utilizing 100 percent of my parenting skills, which helped me to write Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
Valencia Dismore is my third daughter. She is quiet, shy, and loves children and animals. Valencia has a passion for motivating, inspiring, and helping people. Valencia assists anyone in need of help. Her name refers to the orange fruit, which oozes sweetness. She is currently attending college. Thank you for utilizing 100 percent of my parenting skills, which helped me to write Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
Charlie Temidayo Dismore, my firstborn grandchild, has stolen my heart. Her middle name, Temidayo, means my life has changed for good.
I gladly proclaim a bright future of unlimited opportunities and possibilities for her. Thank you for utilizing 100 percent of my grandparenting skills, which helped me to write Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
Thank you to all my other daughters
who spent many hours as part of our family. Thank you for utilizing 100 percent of my parenting skills, which helped me to write Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
There are so many people who believed in me, and to them, I declare a big thank you. There was always my childhood friend Cynthia Croutch Simmons, BFF, who encouraged me to charge forward and always provided a listening ear. The combined support, motivation, and encouragement from all have been the catalyst for writing Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrea Barilla, freelance editor (www.andreabarilla.com), for her outstanding service above and beyond improving Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S. She helped guide me through the revision with ease and encouraged me in my book-publishing dreams.
Last, but certainly not least, I thank God for his divine inspiration that encouraged me to pursue my goals regardless of the many obstacles, real or imaginary. More times than I care to remember, I cried out, Why can’t I just be satisfied with enjoying a restful and much-needed retirement?
I knew the answer, but my self-assured confidence was loud and clear in my dreams and slumbered thoughts. I was motivated by a sincere desire to make a difference in the world. It’s never too late to dream a new dream and allow possibilities to become realities.
In Calling All P.A.R.E.N.T.S. the words teacher
and parent
are often interchanged and have the same meaning. Parents should be committed to motivating and encouraging their children to reach their maximum potential in a positive environment.
FOREWORD
A gaze in any direction, from any vantage point, is an inspiration for Terry. Whether it be from her meditative lanai, absorbing the simplistic beauty of a passing bunny in the backyard, or in meeting someone new on a morning walk, it is clear that this native Long Islander has found another conduit for rediscovering herself, yet again, in North Carolina. Can one rediscover oneself more than once? This theory becomes increasingly evidenced as the layers of personal growth are peeled away from the chapters of her life. November marks six months since Terry declared her little slice of paradise here in The Forest, which she affectionately refers to as Her Forest.
She reveals that Life here allows me to think and dream …
As early as her days as an educator, her inner author was beckoning. Instinctively, she was compelled to teach children to author their books as a way to develop reading and critical thinking skills and foster creativity.
The creative juices within have never flowed so willingly as in her new home. In the interim, she is living a dream come true,
she beams. Terry is a validated authoress, having had her thesis, a text first penned to assist parents through the process of raising children, now amended as CALLING ALL P.A.R.E.N.T.S. and addressing the overwhelming carryover in life situations for all using the seven-character acronym. Her interactive book, with a target audience designed with women in mind, guides one slowly, individually through the steps [of] Preparing Achievers Reaching Excellence Nurturing Talents Successfully. The purpose of this book is to absorb the seven-step process by working through and following to its end.
Terry states we are all on different paths in our lives. Positivity in the approach is the highlight of working through the text. And no matter what gender, race, etc., all that matters is that we are human, and as such should be valued by every other human. The human element of sameness
is the binding glue to humanity.

Our society is in an educational crisis of frightening proportions. Statistics indicate that the high school dropout rate increases every year. Headlines from the news are becoming increasingly more alarming every day.
Millions of Americans have difficulty reading, writing, calculating, solving problems, or communicating well enough to function effectively in society and the workplace. Many adults are unable to write a simple letter. Other projections indicate that these problems will get worse as today’s students enter the workforce. US students consistently score near the
