Jaded: To Dream the Impossible Dream
By John Ferris
()
About this ebook
The main thread is a deeper soul-searching journey about what happens when we experience the loss of a loved one. Do we have the power within to change what has happened? Is the past set in stone, or is it malleable? Are our loved ones lost to us forever, or are they waiting to be rediscovered? These are some of the questions that I have addressed on my search to reunite with my daughter. What I have discovered will shock some and surprise many but has the potential to empower all.
The second thread is a more lighthearted, superficial coming-of-age story that runs parallel to the deeper journey, showing how, when life gets you down, inspiration can come from a most unexpected and unlikely source.

My first book the Yo(u)niverse Paradox was written as the result of my search for a plausible, fundamentally sound, scientifically acceptable and spiritually enhancing explanation for the human existence. My second book is a true life, soul searching account of life after death and how the power resides within us all to change everything.

INTRODUCTION
Life… you live, you die, it’s inevitable, but for what? From the moment you’re born, you’re already on your way out. Perish the thought. You can dwell on the inevitable and worry about what is just around the corner or you can dream! Me… I’m a dreamer.
Even dreamers can get bored, frustrated and really down on life. At the time of writing I have felt bored and frustrated for quite some time - in a bit of a rut. I am well aware it’s up to me and nobody else to drag myself out of the rut. It’s all part of the ebb and flow of life. I have come a long way since my life was turned upside down. Tragedy has struck most of us at one time or another. We all deal with it a little differently. To dampen my pain I chose the path of self discovery. It’s a strange path to go down – it’s like walking along a Möbius strip always returning to the same starting point, never really going anywhere. You go down the rabbit hole and literally end up in Wonderland to discover it’s you who is Alice; that all the weirdness is more real than the daily grind you are accustomed to. You discover life is not what you have believed it to be; in fact it’s quite the opposite. It’s the discovery of how opposites compliment each other which is fundamental to how the system of life functions.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, finding out the truth to who we really are and what reality really is can be shocking to most. Responsibility weighs heavy. Not for me. I was in the gutter anyway so I was thrilled by the revelations. I was excited to find out; power comes from within and when activated in the right way can bring about miraculous changes to your life. In saying that, nothing changes that much unless you are prepared to take action. Taking action requires work, not only by introducing a new way of thinking, but also in deleting the sub-conscious programmes that run your old paradigm.
The rut I currently find myself in has nothing to do with my family life. It is more a fatigue in not having attained my ultimate goal, compounded by the frustration of feeling somewhat isolated; adrift from consensual views due to a deeper understanding that few can relate to. For me it’s apocalyptic! Sounds over dramatic, but what if I was to inform you the word apocalypse does not mean ‘the destruction of the world!’ Or at least it didn’t originally. People love drama and there’s no bigger fear than the old chestnut, the end of the world is nigh!
The book of revelations tells us The bells ringing ushers in the apocalypse
. What this is really saying is The bells ringing ushers in the revelation of secret knowledge
. Therefore the true meaning of the word apocalypse is revelation. How do I know this? Simple sleuthery reveals that the English biblical translations evolved from Coptic Greek. It doesn’t matter a jot what the modern interpretation is! It only matters what the Coptic Greek version intended. This is just a simple example of how the world ‘out there’ manages to pull the veil over your eyes, but it also leads to much bigger questions.
Who and for what reason would deliberately mislead the masses? Simply follow the money trail or follow the power trip. One leads to the money lenders and the other leads to the religious leaders. The Vatican for one has a lot to answer for… imagine! Money and power go hand in hand. They are two sides of the same coin. We all know how money works, but power is more subtle. Power can come in the form of words. By the power of words you have the ability to convince anyone of anything, but with one caveat – they must choose to believe you. Life is a two way street. It’s the power of words which keeps you imprisoned, either someone else’s or your very own and nothing else. It is all related to the story you tell yourself taking place in your own psyche. Now do you understand why religions twist the meaning of words and phrases to suit their own agendas and why the law society developed a bullshit language that only they fully understand (whilst being lucratively financially rewarded) known as legalese?
There are two threads that run throughout this book. The main thread is an introspective journey of my personal apocalypse and search for my daughter leading to the secret, to not only mine, but your self empowerment too. The second is a more light hearted superficial coming of age story which runs parallel to all the deep shit.
My frustration with life stems from the loss I suffered almost nine years ago and the unfulfilled promise I made. I take full responsibility for my life and blame no one or any circumstance or event for my current situation. Thankfully I’m not the suicidal type, but I can fully appreciate why some beautiful but lost souls take their own lives. The Buddha stated as the first of his four noble truths; that all of life is suffering, pain and misery. At times he could be a miserable old git! Christians would say thank heavens for Jesus! A man with a brighter outlook on life. I am the light of the world and all that. Me … I get him, not that I am a Christian. Neither was he for that matter. Life’s rollercoaster took me to the metaphorical gates of Hell, my own construction. I’ve since discovered the devils in you – no prick with horns actually exists! In fact nothing exists except what you decide. Herein lies the paradox. If we use God as an example, if you believe a religious God exists you are right, if you don’t believe in a religious God you are also right, it’s you who decides. Here’s the crux – I can say for sure that you believe in some perceived higher power whether you are prepared to admit to it or not. This is our natural essence - you are nowhere and now here somehow at the same time.
I have come to realise and understand that there is a pattern to how life works. I discuss in much greater detail in my book; The Yo(u)niverse Paradox. But knowing isn’t doing and doing can be so restricted, not only by others, but by you (in my case forty years of subconscious programming). A battle ensues within me between the older version and the more enlightened one.
Enlightenment is a destructive process. It has nothing to do with becoming better or being happier. Enlightenment is the crumbling away of untruth. It’s seeing through the facade of pretence. It’s the complete eradication of everything we imagined to be true

Walking the spiritual path is not about being a goody two shoes. It’s more like treading a spiralling balance beam which is constantly moving, forever trying to throw you off. On one side you have this and on the other that. For this and that to co-exist, you require the ‘space in-between’, which, when you think about it, is everywhere. This and that can be objectified as perturbations (deviations of a system) of space, with space in essence being everything and nothing at the same time (dependant on perspective). To blow your mind even more, paradoxically this is that and that is this all connected by this spiritual path of spacial nothingness. This is known as a continuum, which is how everything is connected and everything is one. If you find this heavy going bear with it. It just might change your life.
The spiritual path is not about bathing in the light and ignoring the darkness. The spiritual path is the awareness that without darkness there is no medium for light to exist. Life requires both, it is and will always be dual natured. It takes time
