Kingdom Kids: Children in Ministry

About this ebook
People see children as the church of tomorrow, but God wants to use them now while they are still young. We scramble to find people who will teach Sunday school and take their turn as it were, but what we really need are people whom God has called to work with them.
They need to be brought into a relationship with Jesus, then be equipped through some of the spiritual gifts to serve. In this book, I will share with you stories of children I have worked with in England and here in Canada.
Children who have seen answers to their prayers, who have brought a word from God and changed lives.
There is nothing more awesome than seeing a child lost in worship.
At the back of the book, there are helps for those who want to know how.

Acknowledgments
Out of Sue’s heart for children come the stories and wisdom of this book.
She has walked alongside many a child through difficult and joyful circumstances and welcomed them with Jesus’ open arms to their place in our spiritual journey together.
Adele Finney
Sue has written a book with a vision for children’s ministry I fully share. I know from experience of working with her in both England and Canada, that she is not just sharing a theory, but from a practical working out of a vision. I commend her to you and fully endorse the contents of this book. I encourage every reader come to it with an open heart, to meditate on its contents until it becomes a burning fire inside and then work the vision out for yourselves in your ministry. I know it works. It will work for you, too.
David Abbott
INTRODUCTION
Has anyone ever asked you, Are you interested in children’s ministry?
What were your first thoughts? Maybe you thought of teaching bible stories, singing songs or learning bible verses. Or maybe your thoughts were something like this: Well, I could teach for a while, take my turn. But I don’t want to be out of the service for too long.
Sometimes people see children’s ministry as babysitting. Someone has to take care of the children while the adults worship.
I want you to know that ministry to children is very important and not as easy as some may think, that is, if it’s done properly. But it is also very rewarding. More and more in these days God is preparing children to be in the front line for him. He is raising up people who will train and care for them as they learn to serve God. Will you be one of those people?
Children’s ministry is not for everyone. Not everyone is called to be a pastor or a worship leader. Not everyone can run the nursery or serve tea with love. Children’s ministry needs dedicated people. As you read this book, be open to what God may say to you about the children in your church.
At the back of this book are points to ponder
for those who are wondering if this ministry is for them and those who want to know more.
I hope to share with you a little of my experience in working with children over the years. Just take what is helpful to you, and step out in faith. You won’t be disappointed, but truly blessed.
DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to David Abbott who showed me what children’s ministry really is. He was willing to share his knowledge to help me reach the children in my church. Thank you David.
