Religion is so newsworthy, and the truth is so hard to decipher in the confusing messages the world bombards us with. The key is love. Jesus loves you, and you are allowed to turn the key to your heart. My hope is that you will take time to ponder on these words. Jesus loves you, and he is returning soon according to his promise.

GOD RULES, JESUS LOVES, SPIRIT GUIDES

The Bible is the Word of the Lord. It is a guide from the one who loves the most and from the Spirit, who guides all our lives if we’re prepared to open our hearts and our lives to Jesus. When we first become Christians, or are beginning to think of God as the reality of life, it’s sometimes difficult to understand and make sense of it all.

God takes all we know and turns it upside down. He seems to be saying to us, ‘Well, let’s look at things from my perspective.’

So who is God, and who are we?

Who Is God?

God is a spirit of love. God is love. God’s abounding love is the starting point of His creation. This is it; from page one of the Bible – from the beginning – God made all we see and all we cannot see. Throughout the Bible, God’s starting point is His love for His creation. That includes you and me. Love comes first, it comes in the middle, and it is for all our tomorrows. God is love.

Who Are We?

The answer comes from asking God, and He replies in Genesis chapter 1, verses 26–27. ‘Then God said Let’s make mankind in our own image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. In the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.’

We, male and female, have been created in the image of God. But what is the image of God if this is us? God is spirit, and He is love. Therefore, this is who we are: a spirit of love inside these earthly bodies.

What is an image? An image is what you see when you gaze into the mirror, glimpse a photograph of yourself, or look into a calm pool of water. It is you – warts and all – especially if there is no airbrushing involved. You see a picture of yourself as others see you.

Therefore, an image is an impression or reflection. If we think of looking into that mirror, what is it that we see? We see ourselves in the mirror, and God sees a reflection of Himself on this earth. Each person reflects individuality, uniquely designed with spirit and love in his or her heart. Of course, a great gift given to us is free will, and we can choose whether we wish to ignite this reflection of God’s image in us
