    Introduction

Have you ever wondered what God wants for your life?

Have you asked questions like: What is my purpose? Am I going in the direction God wants me to go? Am I even on the right track? Is there more to who I am? Does God really have a plan for me? If so, what is it?

If you have ever asked any of these questions, you are not alone. Many people, including myself, have questions like these every day. The fact that you have even started asking these questions, and even grabbed this book, shows you are on your way to finding that purpose. Here are a few things I want you to keep in mind before diving into this book.

God absolutely has a purpose for you. He sent his Son to die on a cross for you and saved you from your sins. He knew you before you were born. God, the creator of the world and everything in it, has a plan for your life. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11, NKJV)

If you don’t have a Bible, get one. You can find Bibles in many places, including in bookstores and online. There are also great Bible apps available online like Blue Letter Bible and Bible Gateway where you can read or even have the Word read right to you.

This book is intended to be a help or supplement for your own personal Bible study as I share what I have learned through my own studies. I encourage you to go back to the Bible and pray and research what you learn for yourself, just as the Bible encourages us to do. They received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. (Acts 17:11, NKJV)

God loves you. Things may be hard at times, but know that God truly wants the best for you. After all, Jesus gave His life so you could be saved.

God is a triune God. It is important to understand who God is. God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is one God, but the three are one as God. So the Trinity is the one amazing God, the creator of everything. This may be a hard concept to understand, so I encourage you to do your own study on God, the Trinity. We will also talk a lot about the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God on earth. The Holy Spirit helps us communicate with God and He comforts us, supports us, and convicts us of sin so we can turn from it and stay close to God. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and the world can’t see or receive Him, but we as believers know Him because He lives inside us. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (John 14:17, KJV)

I’m writing this book because I have asked all the questions listed in the first paragraph of this introduction. And I’ve learned through reading, studying, and praying that there are some wonderful answers. I hope that my experiences and what I’ve learned can help you as you learn more about the wonderful God who loves us.

    Let’s get started.

    Finding Purpose

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

    (Genesis 1:28, KJV)

So what exactly is purpose? Purpose is simply defined as
