Sharron Reece
When I was a teacher of young children in the Montessori classroom, I realized that parents don’t remember the phonetic sounds that they learned as a child. These 26 short phonetic sounds open the world of reading to young children. Now that I am a trainer of adults for Montessori Teacher Preparation of Washington www.montessoriplus.org, I am helping adults all over the world, learn the steps themselves to assist children in reading. These sounds must be short with no added vowel sounds to keep the sounds pure and easy to understand. Once the child learns even a few sounds they can put them together make words and begin to read. It was my only child that led me into teaching young children over twenty years ago. I live in Seattle with my husband and golden retriever. On nice days you’ll see me in my husbands 1970 Chevy, windows down, getting another glimpse of Mount Rainier.
