Starting School Overview
Starting school is one of the most important events in your child’s life and can be an exciting time for parents and children alike, but even the most confident child can find it a daunting prospect if not adequately prepared.
It is the time when a child begins an adventure of friendship and learning – a chance to build the positive attitudes towards education that will last not only for a whole school career but enable them to become a life-long learner afterwards.
Children develop very rapidly, in all aspects, from birth to five years, gaining a wide range of knowledge and skills. They watch, they wonder, they try things out and experiment through play and their interaction with others. At this time parents and carers have the most important influence over their children and can prepare them for the years to come by the opportunities and experiences they offer
