The reader will be interested to know that they are not alone in this journey called life, and that this is not a fiction nor a romance novel, but it is a book about the facts of life. This book is personal and transparent concerning the things that I have experienced from my childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. I am able to speak to the heart of individuals who have endured pain, hurt, distrust, disappointment, betrayal, abuse, misuse, being battered, being bruised, loneliness, rejection, anger, rage, and hatred because of what they been through in life and the results of all the above mentioned and how it affects our day-to-day lives. This book was written to mainly enlighten the readers about how unforgiveness holds everyone involved hostage. It was also written to open the eyes of a people who seem to be blinded so much that they are willing to look beyond the root cause of most our problems in society, which is pain.

    Appreciations

First of all,’ I take this moment to thank the Lord God, who seen something in me that I, nor others could see. I give God praise because, before I was formed in my mother’s womb He knew me, my heart, the gifts, and talents He had placed down in me, the will to survive, and the confidence He had in me, to fulfill His purpose in my life, as well as others, despite what I went through, and the choices I made.

I thank God for family, my five children, my fifth teen grandchildren, four great-grands, and especially for my step-father John A. McDuffie who is no longer with us today. I thank God for the privilege for allowing my step-father to come into our lives at such a young age, for he was my hero, friend, father, my children granddad, and my ride or die partner, and I truly miss him.

I thank God for my professors at The Great Bethune Cookman University where I attended beginning 2009-2014, who played a tremendous role in helping me accomplish my goals and God given assignment. I thank God for all those whom He placed in my path along this journey, whether they played a positive, or negative role. I praise God for all the negative experiences I have had in life, although some were very heinous, and scary, they helped me tremendously to understand God’s plan, and purpose for my life.

Although I am very grateful for salvation, I am extremely thankful that the Lord allowed me the time, and opportunity to forgive those who victimized me in some form or another. I am also grateful for the conviction that was placed on my heart, by the Holy Spirit to seek forgiveness from others, who were close to me that I may have injured, directly or indirectly due to the bad decisions I made, in order for healing to begin in the lives of everyone.

    Introduction

This book is about the pain, hurt, discouragement, disappointments, rejection, emotional toil, physical scars, self-esteem, and worthlessness which pertained to my personal life, before I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior in 2005. The title of the book was given to me by the Holy Spirit, while living in Greenwood South Carolina in the latter part of 2007.

The Lord pressed it upon my heart to write about the trauma I experienced as a child, the toil it took on me from being victimized sexually by a close relative, ganged raped by his friends taken advantage of by others, while trying to find safety from the hands of the perpetrator and the devastating effect it had on me down through the years. One early morning around 4:30am, while in consecrated prayer, seeking concerning other matters, the Lord revealed to me the title of the book was to be called, Triumph over Trauma.

When the Lord gave me this assignment, at first I felt He had chosen the wrong person. Because, before I started writing, I can honestly say that ‘I knew nothing about proper grammar, punitions or anything else that had to do with writing an essay, more less a book. Due to the trauma I had suffered as a child, I could not focus in school, I had difficulties in communicating with my peers, and my highest level of education was the eighth grade, until I received my GED June 1994 at the age of 31.

Curious about why the Lord gave me this title, and the meaning behind it, I then went before God again in prayer asking, why He wanted it to be titled this particular name, and I heard the voice of the Lord God say,’’ because I the Lord God’’ have caused you to Triumph over all the Trauma which you have suffered from the age of 3 until the age of 44.

From that day, I understood that my story was not only going to impact the lives of people who were not in the Lord, but, it was going to help the people of God be able to understand how many of them may be still dealing with some form of trauma, struggling with being delivered from different types of demonic spirits, harboring unforgiveness, denying what took place, and refusing to accept the responsibility for the future, by releasing those whom we may still be holding hostage.

Once again’ I am truly thankful for the opportunity God has granted me, to be able to write about my childhood life, the trauma I endured down through the years, which made a tremendous impact on my life in so many ways. Although this may be an extremely difficult topic for some to talk about because of bad memories which could be very painful to some, I can honestly say that, I understand. Being a victim of sexual molestation, rape, physical and emotional abuse, battered wife, among many other things, it was very unpleasant for me also.

However, with the help of professional counselling, psychiatric care and prescribe medicine, I was able to open up, admit what had happened, where it happened, how long it had been going on, and who the perpetrators were. To me, this was the most humiliating thing to do, however, I got through it. I had to be totally honest, even when I knew how it would make me feel, which was filthy, undesirable, discussing, how people would look at me, what was in their minds, and would my telling cause more damage than good. There were other things that I had to take into consideration also, which were my five children, other family members, and friends, and the affect it could possibly have on all of them.

However, after careful consideration and taking everything into account, I made the decision to come forth and to receive the necessary help needed in order for me to receive healing mentally, and emotionally. Therefore, it is my sincere prayer that, whoever reads this book, male or female will also understand that, if they have or still do suffer from childhood trauma, whatever form it may have been, you too can be made whole in every area of your life. I also hope that this book will enlighten people that they may know and recognize the signs of sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional disturbed signs, and mental illness. I feel with all my heart that’ I have been given one of the greatest assignments in the world, by my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, and that is to help set the captives free.

With that being said, as we take a close look at families, communities, and societies as a whole, there are millions of people who has never spent one minute in a physical prison, however they are being held as captured prisoners by demonic spirits. Likewise, with those who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress(PTS), which is really pre-signs of a mental breakdown. This can occur when an individual suffers from some traumatic event they have witness, or what they have experienced personally.

Either way, people are hurting, suffering, and being tormented by something they haven’t got a clue as to what it is. Therefore, millions around the world seek to find some form of relief in illicit drugs, alcohol, perverted sex with one or more persons, and if not any of these, they are giving up on life and committing suicide, because whatever their bad experience was, Satan has fooled them to think that there is no hope, no one would understand, or that no one else has been through what they have been through.

    I believe with everything in
