Foreword
As a pastor, I have seen time and again the effects of trying circumstances on people. For some, the circumstances become too overwhelming and they never recover. Others manage to grab hold of God with tenacity and become overcomers through His amazing grace and miraculous power. Terry and Lois are two of those overcomers. Surrounding the event that literally changed their lives, they saw God at work through unsuspecting individuals, EMT and hospital personnel, youth groups, churches, and communities. Their story is a testament to God's promise that "in all things He works for the good of those who love Him and have been called according to His purpose."

It is only by the grace of God that I was able to write this book. I have no experience in this sort of thing and really did not do well in school when it came to writing. God helped me to organize my thoughts and even gave me the words to write when I was struggling with how to say something. This has been an incredible experience and probably will be one of my greatest accomplishments in life. Without His help and encouragement from my family and church family it would never have been completed.
Terry is my biggest encourager. He gave me the opportunity and time I needed to accomplish this task. He helped with the many computer aspects of the project and even developed the webpage that will help to get our information out. He listened to my complaining and gave me the gentle nudge I needed to continue on. He has supported me every step of the way. After all, what would you expect from Superman? (See Chapter 10)
I want to thank my kids, Stefanie, Greg, Tracy, and Jenny for telling me I could do this and for believing that I would see it through to completion. They have each one impressed me so much in dealing with the accident and the way that it impacted their lives.
Our extended families were ready, willing, and able to help anyway we needed. They were just a phone call away. That was a huge blessing to us and made things so much easier. They lifted us up in prayer and checked in on us frequently.
I must recognize our church family that spent countless hours preparing our home, taking us to doctor appointments, and physical therapy appointments, providing meals and any kind of equipment that we needed, for giving us a van that made our life so much easier, and for giving me the encouragement to preserve our story forever. The very first person who told me we needed to write a book was Eric Loggins, and I never forgot that. So, Eric, thank you for putting the idea in my head and thank you to all the others that encouraged me and prayed for me along the way. Donald and Beulah Land, Doug and Ann Williams, Sarah Bell, you all spent almost as much time at Physical Therapy and the doctors as we did. Thank you so much for transporting us back and forth. Mitzi Williams, and Beulah Land, thank you so much for organizing meals and keeping us and the girls fed
I would also like to thank our neighbors at River Oaks Plantation, who worked with our church family to put the walkway in to our basement and stocked our pantry with food. They also provided meals for us, and made sure the girls got to school in the mornings, and anywhere else they needed to go. Joe and Leslie Gillette, you are our angels. Lisa Nassal, thank you for working with Mitzi in organizing meals and so many other things. You are such a blessing to our family.
God did incredible things in our life and in the lives of those around us and I am so thankful that I am able to share our story with others. May God use this book to bring glory to Himself and to encourage others in times of struggle. God bless the readers of this book; may they grow to know You in a new and more personal way.
Love to you all,
Lois
