Nancy completed a Diploma of Occupational Therapy in the 1960's when this discipline first arrived in Australia. She spent many happy years working as an OT in psychiatry, geriatrics, and community health. After completing a course in shiatsu conducted by Denise Linn she became interested in natural therapies and opened a natural therapy practice. During a course in kinesiology she discovered her life's passion—creating vibrational remedies from the energy within specific shells, and started her current business, Shell Essences, in 1991. Nancy's first book Messages from Shells describes her journey with shells and relates stories from those who used the essences.     Liking

    Do you ever wonder why you like something or someone and dislike some other thing or person?

    Liking is resonance—a vibration which resonates with an energy within you. If there is resonance, then there is a positive connection. Notice with what and whom you resonate, and make this part of your life. The resonance may be with a person, music, art, perhaps a book, but you will feel a heart connection.

    The resonance of liking is a feeling of warmth, peace, and relaxation from inner concerns and anxieties. If you can fill your life with enough likes, you will increase your quotient of happiness. Make sure your likes come from the heart and are not ego based, such as ‘I should like because…’ or ‘I shouldn’t like because . . .’

    Always there is a heart connection; you will feel a relaxed peace and warmth. Don’t evaluate or discriminate. Likes can strengthen your connection to self; something within you feels just right. Search for likes, and you will attract them. Remember energies that are in harmony resonate with a beautiful, harmonious silent sound; even though you can’t hear them, you will feel them.

    As you increase your contact with the energy of liking, you will strengthen these heart-centred qualities within yourself.

    Now

    The lesson for today is to live in the now by creating each moment of your day to be a culmination of the most successful creations of your past, present, and future. Then as you live within each moment, every action will become important and will create the template for the rest of your life.

    You hear a lot about living in the now, but it is the small steps, such as the decision to place your highest intent into every action, that will help you achieve the state of now, and this will create the energy of the new and evolving humanity. Everything can be achieved when you take small deliberate steps of awareness.

    You do not need to spend time trying to understand this; just place all your intent, wisdom, and care into every action, be they ever so mundane. Then you will begin to live in the now.

    This may sound difficult, but every step you take with intent towards creating the loving compassion of an evolved humanity will lead you closer to that goal.

    Living in the now has become an expression which is rarely questioned or explained; it means more than refraining from obsessing about the past or thinking of the future with fear. Living in the now means living each moment with intent towards the final and ongoing creation.

    Will this be one of fear, guilt, and despondency, or will you create a life of peace, compassion, and loving harmony with all?

    Each thought and action in the now is fulfilling your intent.

    Fortune

    The lesson today is about fortune, but not necessarily the fortune of gaining goods and services. The fortune I am describing is that which is formed by choice: the choice of lessons which have been accepted and learnt, the choice of living in harmony with others, the choice to live without fear and constant distrust, the choice to live on a planet which is slowly ascending into a state of balance and harmony.

    Being grateful for all these fortunes will begin to create a more balanced life, where fortune finds you.

    You believe fortune is either good fortune or bad fortune, and the general belief is that it’s just something which happens out of the blue—you are lucky or unlucky. This is not the case; each day you are creating your fortune, and it’s a long-term project.

    Every thought and every action is creating your fortune—positive or negative. When you begin to build good fortune, you will find that things fall into place; something you need arrives at the right time. Fortune is created day by day, and your positive, discerning outlook accumulates good fortune both for you and for those around you.

    The old karmic energy of punishment for previous wrongdoing is no longer applicable. Instead you are accumulating positive energy, which can spread and will permeate every aspect of your lives. You are creating positive energy not by doing specific tasks but by being—being kind, compassionate, slow to anger, quick to forgive, and quick to release fear and guilt.

    Thus, day by day you are creating your fortune—not a pile of money and possessions but the intangible gift called grace and the fortune of blessings.

    Social Unrest

    Social unrest is something your media loves to portray and call to your attention. The phenomenon you call social unrest occurs when a group of people feel something in their country, their politics, or even their world is unfair, unethical, lacking compassion, and your communication system allows this perception to become common knowledge.

    No longer do you need to sit back and allow governments to inflict unfairness on to others without stating your opinion. So within the concept of a world view, you are questioning and demanding integrity.

    However, the roots of this social unrest lie much deeper within than you realise. As your soul awakens to higher vibrational energy, you begin searching for the higher principles in life. It’s easy to see the damage being caused by unethical actions in world events but not so easy to recognize them in your home, office, or personal thoughts.

    If there is unfairness close to home, what do you do? Again, the biggest hurdle is to recognize the problem and the part you may play. Any behaviour less than open, honest, ethical, and caring will cause a subtle discomfort and must be addressed with compassion, caring, and courage. It is in these close-to-home areas that problems of ethics must be addressed.

    It’s easy (and important) to add your voice to worldwide protest for social change, but the change must start within yourselves, and it is the small hidden issues which cause the most widespread damage.

    You are attempting to create a higher vibrational energy, and every small action or thought which does not resonate with this will become an irritant to your development.

    Then social unrest may manifest in your own multicellular being, and that which is ignored and not addressed ultimately causes the greatest damage.

    Grief

    Grief is ultimately the feeling of personal loss, feeling as if you have lost something very valuable; something or someone has disappeared and you are left bereft and no longer feel complete. Realise that nothing is ever lost; you are in no way less because that other is no longer visible or tangible.

    Grief is part of the old energy of survival—you hold on to something or someone who seems invaluable to you, someone you can’t easily survive without. However, because they are no longer physically tangible, you must remember that they are just as close as they ever were.

    You feel separate because they have stepped from a 3D energy on to a page written in a different language. So don’t try to decipher the language—practice feeling the connection and knowing that the real, other-dimensional connection can never be broken.

    Connect from the love in your heart to the love within theirs, and trust that this connection is absolute reality and can never be severed or lost.

    Hold out your hands, and sense that those you think you’ve lost are holding your hands. Feel the love and support emanating from them.

    Grief is a perception of loss and disconnection, but it is only a perception you have come to believe and accept without question in the old energy of survival and separation. The ultimate loss is actually losing your perception of connection to spirit. On an inner level, you know that when you arrived on this planet, part of you remained in spirit, and any perceived loss in your human life seems to unconsciously
