About this ebook

This book makes use of the game of fast-pitch softball as a tool to tell a story about never, ever giving up. Its about dealing with defeat and personal adversity, about picking yourself up and staying in the game, and about surprise. The book uses the authors granddaughter, actual happenings from her life, and the fortunes of the game to tell a tale that teaches a life lesson. By the way, there are these furry little flying critters, called bats, that keep making their presence known throughout the story. Watch for them!

Caroline’S Day
Author

Tony A. Angelelli

The author is a retired engineer, father of three daughters, and grandfather of six grandchildren. He and his wife, Joy, live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The author is a life-long sports fan who has never been much of an athlete himself, although he still keeps trying, but he is now able to live sports all over again through his grandchildren. He experiences the highs and lows, the hard work and frustrations, and the successes and failures of fast-pitch softball through the real-life experiences of his granddaughter in this book. He cries and laughs with her, hurts and celebrates with her, and even “slides into third” with her.

    CAROLINE’S DAY

    Chapter 1: Let’s Get started

Call me Poppa – that’s what all my grandchildren call me. This is a story about one of them named Caroline. The story that I am going to tell is true and I know that because I was there to personally witness almost everything in this story. I got the parts that I was not there to witness directly from somebody in the story who was there. The people in this story are real people; sometimes their names have been changed a bit – sometimes not. The setting is just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee. The time frame starts in the Spring 5 years ago and continues to just about now. OK, here we go! Let’s get started on Caroline’s journey!

Caroline is 11 years old and is in the 6th grade. She is a pretty girl with medium length light brown hair, a Snow White complexion, and plenty of freckles. She is rather tall and lean for her age and she
