Introduction
The reason I wrote, FROM THE BOTTOM
, was to reflect on my own life and the situations of the lives of those around me. I started writing poetry when I was nine and made my first book of poetry when I was ten. Back then, I saw the world a lot different than I do now. My life hasn’t been easy but, whose has? My poetry is never sugar coated. I tell exactly what I feel without compromise.
The reason that I gave this book its title is because, ever since I was twelve years old, I’ve suffered from depression and suicidal contemplation. There were various reasons for the extreme sadness I felt but, mostly, I’ve wondered if my life had a purpose. Feeling insignificant is something that we all feel, at one time or another. After seeing so much death and frustration around me, I was beginning to lose hope. Writing was the only outlet that I had.
Through the emotional roller coaster that I’ve been on, I learned that we are all great and have a divine purpose on this earth according to God’s word. It took my whole twenty-three years of life to write this and it means everything to me to be able to share it with others, especially those that might be going through the same situations.
Summer Rain
I can feel the sun frowning.
I know it’s gonna rain.
I can hear the birds singing.
And when it does rain,
