About this ebook

My Eyes Are Open Now: A Book of Poems was created after the author, Lorraine S Gamble, overcame addiction and began to express herself through poetry.

The unique quality of the poetry is a reflection of the authors spiritual awakening that brought her back on a journey to what she was meant to be. After many years of not seeing the beauty in the world, she opened her eyes to an entirely new existence.

The words in the poetry are meant to encourage healing and a feeling of joy for the reader. Lorraines wisdom and life experiences are qualities she expresses in her poetry. When we concentrate on the negative side of life we miss out on the most important part life has to offer: the joy!

The words in this inspirational collection will encourage the reader to find their joy by keeping their spiritual eyes open!

Lorraine S Gamble

Lorraine S. Gamble has a certificate and special needs citation in early childhood education. She worked with children with special needs for thirty years! She always felt this was her mission in life, but health issues caused her life to take a different direction. Lorraine had a life-changing experience that caused her to look inside herself and make big changes on her journey of life! She was guided by Spirit to write poetry while going through these life-changing experiences and continues to write as a beautiful creative release. Lorraine also reads angel and goddess tarot cards and is exploring her spiritual side through the Unity church. Lorraine has three more writing projects in the works at this time and, if the universe allows, will release them in the near future! Lorraine was born in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada and currently resides in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She has two children, a boy and a girl, two beautiful granddaughters, and, of course, a wonderful new man in her life!

    About the Author

    I

dedicate this book to three wonderful people who left this world way too soon!

First, to my loving Dad, Roy William Biggs—I miss you every day!

Second, to my caring and funny brother-in-law, Sandy Wakeling—I miss your smiling face and know your soul lives on in your beautiful sons!

Third, to Zackariah James Rathwell—I didn’t get to meet you, but I know you live on in the loving heart of your dad!

God’s light shines in all of us; we just have to find it!

Starting with ourselves, then looking for it in others!

    —Lorraine S. Gamble

    Acknowledgments

I am so very grateful for all the wonderful people in my life, and without them I would not have the confidence and courage to follow through with my dreams. A special thanks to my family, you know who you are and what you mean to me. Special thanks to my amazing daughter, Gillian Evans, and my wonderful son, Brett Klock. Your love and support are what sustain me. Also, Tina Maly and her beautiful daughters, Carla Elliot and Candace Murray, I feel your support from across the miles. To my best friend, Karyn Nelson, thank you for your love and guidance through this difficult yet incredible time in my life.

Thank you to my mother, Brenda Biggs, for your support and the gift of life.

Last, but definitely not least, to Bruce Rathwell, who entered my life in a most wonderful and mysterious way (because we all know how God works). I love and appreciate all that you are. I am particularly grateful for your inspiration and your incredible ability to make me feel safe.

Finally, I am most grateful to God for showing me my light and giving me the divine gift of life through His love! Without God’s messengers, the amazing angels, I would still be living in a state of fear and not following the path I am meant to pursue.

I would also like to acknowledge the beautiful gifts Mother Earth has to offer. Without her, we wouldn’t have a place to live in this physical world. Thank you, my goddess, for the earth (crystals), the air (our breath), the water (for life), and the fire (for magical power). Let’s remember to take care of and love our home!

    Introduction

I wrote this book after awakening spiritually. The reason I call it My Eyes Are Open Now is because I felt like I had shut the world out for many years through alcohol abuse and feelings of unworthiness. I want to let the world know that it doesn’t matter what age you are; it is never too late to open your eyes and see what your life is really meant to be. The combination of faith and courage is what allows this to happen. If we are constantly in a fearful state, we can never move on to the place where we are meant to be! The opposite of fear is faith. Fear stops spirit from entering our life, and spirit is what makes life worth living.

The first step to finding spirit, I believe, is to start by loving yourself. Look in the mirror and actually say "I love
