ABOUT THE COVER
I was having a difficult time finding an appropriate cover for this book. I asked the Lord to help me come up with an idea and then just left it with Him while I continued on with the manuscript. One day I was having dinner at the mission, where I volunteered, when I noticed a picture on the wall, not far from where I was sitting. When I got up to have a good look at it, tears just filled my eyes, as this was the very depiction of my Jesus that I had been looking for. His gentle, compassionate gestures toward the girl in the picture described my relationship with Him to a tee. This is what He had demonstrated to me as I went through the recent events in my life.
I immediately asked the director of the mission if he knew the artist and where I could find her. Only God!! A client, who was presently staying at the mission, knew this woman and offered to hook me up with her. Apart from God, what were the chances of that, as it was several years since she had stayed at the mission? I discovered that she was in prison and it might be some time before we could connect. I just knew in my heart that the Holy Spirit had made this connection possible and I would wait on the Lord to bring it to pass. Angela had captured my Jesus in a way that demonstrates His compassion for mankind. Excitement gripped my heart, as I knew God was doing something for her and for me that was above what we could imagine.
Angela, thank you for your talent and for letting me use your sketch. Jesus loves you girl and He has great plans in store for you!
I also want to thank Christopher Florizone for preparing my cover photos for submission to the publisher.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Angela Jones shared her testimony with me and gave me permission to share it with you:
I used to pray for God’s will to happen and when God’s will did happen, I would be mad if it wasn’t what I wanted. I would think Jesus was mad at me.
I’ve grown in my relationship with Jesus and I now realize God’s will was happening. I am alive. Sometimes we must suffer to bring us closer to Him. I spent too much time believing Jesus didn’t want me, when it was opposite all along. I am His child and like any Father He wants me to find Him in my pain and time of need. This is when I can feel God’s love the most. He works with me so I can recognize Satan’s temptation more clearly. I must always, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.
(Proverbs 3:5-6) KJV
All things happen for a reason, good and bad. I’m not sure what I was feeling when I drew that picture, I was just doing something special for the mission. Now I know it was placed there for reasons like this.
God Bless,
Angela Jones
STORY ILLUSTRATIONS BY JEAN KEATON
I am delighted to include artwork by Jean Keaton to accompany my stories!
Jean captures the intimacy that Jesus desires to share with the children of God. Her drawings depict the intimacy that I have experienced in some of the stories that I will share with you. I feel so strongly in my heart that the Holy Spirit led me to Jean’s Website so that together we could demonstrate His Love to a hurting world, both orally and visually.
Jean shares the following testimony on her website: In 1991, Jean was intensely affected by the violent, senseless death of a young child. While fervently praying for the child’s family, heartache was replaced with solace and peace as she visualized that same child, smiling and joyful in the loving arms of the Saviour. This experience helped Jean realize that our relationship with the Saviour provides not only hope and comfort, but that it is also a source of joy.
Over the next few years, Jean noticed that most artwork depicting Jesus with children lacked the happiness conveyed in the image she had seen. She felt compelled to create something that would reflect that happiness. Sometime later she accomplished her goal by drawing Laughing Baby.
Feelings Jean experienced as she drew let her know it wasn’t just another picture. When it was finished, she stepped back to look at it, and it took her breath away. It was as if I was seeing it for the first time
, Jean recalls. At that moment, I knew it wasn’t really mine.
Even more importantly, she felt as though the Lord approved.
This description of the origin of her artwork is what drew me to it, before I even read her story, and why I so want to include her images of Jesus in my book. Thank you so much Jean for portraying our Lord and Saviour as the wonderful person that He really is.
Jean resides in Utah. Jean’s artwork can be viewed online at (www.jeankeatonart.com).
PREFACE
My supernatural journey with Jesus has been so exhilarating at times that my heart is Blessed beyond words, but it has also brought a lot of pain when I see the unbelief of others as I share these amazing experiences.
For years I desired to write a book, but the timing did not seem right and I did not feel qualified, so I just put it on the shelf
for awhile. Recently I shared some of my stories with a friend over e-mails. This person was not a believer in Christ, but to my surprise, he loved them, and began to encourage me in my writings
, as he called them! His encouragement stirred up a desire to seek the Lord on this. One day as I was sitting on my granddaughter’s couch, the Spirit of the Lord began to nudge me softly and He said, Now is the time; you are ready to venture out.
I immediately began to make an outline of the experiences I would like to share; thus the fulfillment of this book. I sincerely hope you are BLESSED by my encounters and that they will plunge you into a new dimension, where you will experience intimacy with God, as you never have before. For those of you whom have shared similar experiences, I know that you will rejoice with me as you recall each blessing that the Lord has bestowed upon you.
I have a strong desire in my heart to encourage people who are not fully aware of what Christ accomplished on the cross. Not only did Jesus take all of our sin on His own body, but He also took all of our sickness and emotional distress. He wants us to live an abundant life on earth. If you live your life just waiting to get to Heaven, you are missing out on all the wonderful plans God has for you on earth. Abundant life in Heaven is a given; we need abundant life now. Jesus didn’t endure all of that suffering to see us living in defeat every day. David says in Psalms: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s." (Psalms 103: 2-5) KJV
I really like The Living Bible translation of the above Scripture: Yes, I will bless the Lord and not forget the glorious things He does for me. He forgives all my sins. He heals me. He ransoms me from hell. He surrounds me with lovingkindness and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things! My youth is renewed like the eagle’s, He gives justice to all who are treated unfairly. He revealed His will and nature to Moses and the people of Israel. He is merciful and tender toward those who don’t deserve it; he is slow to get angry and full of kindness and love. He never bears a grudge, nor remains angry forever. He has not punished us as we deserve for all our sins, for his mercy toward those who fear and honor him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far away from us as the east is from the west. He is like a father to us, tender and sympathetic to those who reverence him.
(Psalms 103:2-13) TLB
Knowing Jesus is not religion—it is a wonderful and personal relationship with our Creator and Father. It is life changing! When you know the truth about what Jesus did for you on the cross, it will change your life and give you great hope where there is no hope, strength when there is no strength left in you, and expectation of your destiny. God has great plans for you!!! Reap His benefits.
You may ask why I experienced some of these events and you haven’t. I have been asked this many times and I can only say that God knows what each individual requires to strengthen and equip them for the purpose He has for each one. My visitations have come at times when I desperately needed to hear something from God. Only He knows what will best meet our need and how to accomplish His purpose effectively. I feel that sometimes He can’t fully reveal Himself to those who are afraid of the supernatural. God is supernatural and operates in a supernatural realm.
Another factor is that God responds to our hunger for Him. If we are hungry and thirsty for His power and want to know His plans for our life, He is more than willing to comply. Sometimes we want Him to respond, but we want Him to do it with our way of thinking, and He always has a better way. Sometimes we don’t want to go through certain processes to acquire His provisions and so we tie His hands. Trusting God explicitly is the only way to get His best for our lives! One of the greatest drawbacks in achieving God’s ultimate for our lives is fear of man—what others might think, so we compromise and settle for less. We limit God by our thought processes.
I long to see Christians move into the supernatural kingdom of God. The church is not where it could be because of fear of the supernatural and disunity created by differences in doctrinal and personal belief. A vast majority of the Body of Christ have ignored the potential they have to take dominion over the earth and over the powers of darkness that rule this world. Jesus gave us the same authourity that He exercised, when He was on earth, to overcome the enemy. He said that we would do even greater things than Him. This will not happen until people take the whole message of the Bible to heart. We cannot leave out the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, the Spiritual Gifts, His Amazing Grace or the Authourity we have in the Name of Jesus and expect to reign on earth. Satan has blinded people to the importance of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit must be invited to be present at all times, to bring about the will of God in our meetings, and to reveal God’s plans for our individual
