Confessions of a Single Woman: Living Under Cover
()
About this ebook
My life was filled with anger, self-determination, and indifference.
Confessions of a Single Woman, Living Under Cover is a seven-year journey in which God transformed years of bitterness, brokenness, and fear into a healed and delivered woman. It shows how far his love will go to bring us back under his covering and moving into the life he has planned for us.

Dedication
I dedicate this book to all my sisters, whether you are by blood, through Christ, teenagers, seniors, American, African, and Brazilian. I thank you for opening your lives and hearts to me and helping me along this journey. I pray that you will live under His covering.
I have to thank God, my Father who has blessed me with dreams and never let them die. It is only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that my life could be complete and by the power of the Spirit I’ve had the courage to write. Thank you Lord!
Special thanks to Alice, Eleanor, MaryJo, Madeline, and all my Wednesday and Sunday girls, you know who you are.
Janice
Forward
One hot summer July in 2007, this East coast girl found herself downtown Detroit as a chaperone for about 20 teenagers on a mission’s trip. My husband was a youth pastor at the time and the coordinator of the trip. By night, we slept on the floors of River Rouge Bible Assembly, showered with a hose in the back alley surrounded by a make shift tarp, and lead a rowdy week of VBS camp for about sixty kids in partnership with the church. My job was the team cook. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks daily for thirty was my task. Crazy. But fabulous! Mostly due to the amazing friendships we were given during those seven days. One most special to me was Janice Tate. She reminded me of one of my closest high school friends growing up in Maryland. And since Reebok’s Super Bowl Commercial featuring Terry Tate had been aired that year, our whole crew affectionately yelled Heeeyyy, Jaaaanice!
every time she entered the room.
Janice and I immediately connected. She would hang out in the kitchen with me while I peeled potatoes or made umpteen grilled cheese sandwiches. She’d pop in on our team meetings and share in the laughter, recalling funny things that happened each day. And she made sure I got rescued from the hot kitchen to experience a Mexican lunch in Detroit or the most amazing homemade ice cream from a local dairy. Somehow hanging out with Janice was just easy. like catching up with a friend you’ve known forever even though we’d just met days before. We shared a love for God and big dreams for living that out in life even amidst the questions we had of things we just didn’t understand. The friendship that felt as if it has never had a beginning, continued in the years ahead with random phone calls to catch up or connect on Facebook.
So I was thrilled to be one of the first to get to read Janice’s book Confessions: A Single Woman, Living Under Cover. I had been a missionary for several years before I ever got married, so I could relate to Janice’s hopes and struggles in serving God as a single woman. We all face the unexpected at some point in life. Janice’s story is a journey through life that begins with God and only continues to deepen through each path traveled – to be smooth or rocky – crooked or straight – beautiful or messy. Janice weaves the thread of God’s covering throughout the fabric of her life – tapestry it becomes as she shares how the events of her life have worked together for good
through the power of the only One who could do such a thing. Reading this book will increase
