Soul Stirring Sonnets - Ashok Malli
THE SACRIFICE
To sacrifice for the loved ones and the nation is the noblest of acts;
As there is bit of Heroism and the Compassion in each ‘n’ everyone,
To lay down one’s life in devotion and love is a very well known fact;
For in dire states Brave hearts never flinch,back out or cowardly run.
They challenge authority of tormenting tyrants or demonic despots;
Brave hearts vow to finish them by coups ‘n’ attempts to dethrone,
And smilingly face the wrath, atrocities,bullets and the gunshots;
Which are lethal, deadly ,extremely dangerous and death -prone.
Bravo and Kudos! They sacrificed for their greatest, loving Nation;
Their love for their motherland is inspiring ,exemplary,’n’ unique–
Giving their precious life for betterment of the future generations;
And grateful Nation in their praises— always dance, sing ‘n’ speak.
Their sacrifice suddenly awakens slumbering Nation with electric jolt;
And ordinary,meager society begins revolt with newly found courage–
Often by non- co-operation, strikes ‘n’ brings nation to a grinding halt;
Finally bombarding, hanging dastardly,devilish dictators in fits of rage.
THE REVOLUTION
Devilish Dictator sucked blood of his subjects like Vampire;
They asked for little bread–and he threw at them the cake,
Everyone was tortured by him throughout his vast empire;
Their confidence ‘n’ respect for him began to forever shake.
Slowly the discontentment,anguish ‘n’ hatred began to grow;
The Revolutionaries planned to overthrow eccentric Emperor,
Who imagined himself to be the smartest like fox or the crow;
This infuriated Brave hearts -—who developed short tempers.
Suddenly widespread riots broke–which were difficult to tame;
As the demonic Despot become more unreasonable ‘n’ insane,
And he flogged to death the Destitute, deaf,dumb and the lame;
For they dared to protest–-The reason seemed so mundane!!!
The Revolutionaries came to streets and began Freedom march;
With knives, machetes, guns,and torches towards Royal Palace,
Pulling down the Colonial Flag from every dome, pole and arch;
They tied the dangerous dictator to a pole ‘n’ shot him in the face.
An ebullient old beggar pulled out from his robe the National flag;
Waving it gloriously he ushered in a new era of peace and liberty,
Ending the long reign of terror and life of misery, poverty and rags;
With visions and dreams
