It is said that most of the world’s great work is done by people who are feeling just a little bit unwell. This is a heartening idea for a newspaper cartoonist like myself, who in more than fifty years has faced too many deadlines feeling a bit off-colour, slightly dreadful and a little too weary. The thought that it may be possible to create something unique, wise and funny while feeling poorly is worth clinging to as the publishing deadline looms.
