About this ebook

From Tragedy to Triumph describes a man's struggle with the untimely deaths of three of his four children, all due to unusual circumstances. This is the story of a man learning how to deal with such a tragedy. You will follow Alex and see what happens when he lays down the grief and runs to God. The heartfelt pain was so intense that the man walked away from his business and settled in for a long season of prayer, going to God for the answers, any answers.

It was during this time that God began the show Alex a better understanding of how life and death and God and His kingdom work. Fortunately for us, Alex was permitted to take notes and write down what he heard and saw. Though written in simple, down-to-earth English, you will find many profound truths direct from the throne of God.

    TESTIMONIALS

There are a number of things that I feel truly help define someone’s character. Transparency in values is a great barometer of someone’s life. Faith, family, integrity, honesty and the investment into people’s lives are all values that encompass the heart of Alex Davis. Unfortunately, I feel that these words don’t bring justice to Mr. Davis. He is a father, a husband, a businessman and a highly respected man of his community. Even more importantly, he is an ambassador of our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout his personal struggles, that would cause any man to fall to his knees in despair and doubt, Alex finds himself on his knees in prayer, drawing himself even closer to the Lord. I am privileged, honored and blessed to be part of this chapter of his life. God bless you my friend.

Through the years of knowing the Davis family, I’ve seen how fragile life can be. I’ve had the privilege of personally knowing each of them. The twins, Alex and Mary, have been a double blessing from the Lord, not to mention the other two children, James and Sarah. As the years have gone by, I’ve got to see the many talents in this family. They have touched the lives of so many, and have been such a true example of one who lives the life of trusting and fully believing what they teach and preach.

    Daily, though no ears attended,

    Did my prayers arise.

    Daily, though no fire descended

    Did I sacrifice.

Though my darkness did not lift,

Though I faced no lighter odds.

    Though God bestowed no gift,

    Nonetheless, Nonetheless, I served God.

A Drifter Off Tarentum, Rudyard Kipling

I see Alex’s heart in these words.

My husband George and I have been very blessed to have Alex Davis in our lives. He is one of the godliest men we have ever met. He is a true example of a man of God. He’s been through the wringer when it comes to trials and tribulations, but he has never lost sight of God or His word. We are blessed just knowing Alex, and seeing how he praises and glorifies God for everything he has in his life. He has been a wonderful father to all of his children. He’s a wonderful husband, brother in law, uncle and grandfather.

I am deeply grateful to be able to call Alex a close and personal friend. I have seen him triumph and endure through the hard times, while still remaining faithful to Christ. He is always ready to give godly council and this has meant a great deal to me. I hope that through reading this book and understanding the huge impact Jesus has played in his life, others may be as inspired by his story as I have been. God bless you on your journey, my friends.

I would like to give testimony on behalf of my friend, young Alex Davis. Many years ago, when I was first married, my wife and I went to Florida to visit. We, with Alex, stopped at a convenience store to purchase a soda and a homeless man approached us and asked us for money. If I had been the one to answer, I would’ve given him a grand total of $2.00, if he was lucky. My friend Alex, however, pulled him aside and gave him quite a bit more. The smile on the old man’s face was priceless. He hugged us and thanked us. On his way out of the store, Alex called to the man, walked over to him, and asked him if he needed anything else. It showed me what kind of a man Alex truly is. I saw in Alex something you don’t see in the average person; a tender heart.

I have known Alex Davis for many years, and I know the tragedies that he has been through. In my opinion, the only way he has survived is by his faith in Jesus Christ. He is still working for the Lord and he can help anyone going through tough times.

    Pastor Ham Parker

Alex Davis is my hero. He has been tested and tried and has come out like gold. I’m so proud of him, as a member of my family and a man of God. God bless him.

    – An extended family member

I have been blessed to know Alex and his family all of my life. His sons, James and Alex, were two of my best friends. I’ve been through some tough times in my life. It’s in those times of trouble that you learn who your real friends are. I can remember many times when I needed help,
