    CHAPTER 1

    SEPHILIM ANGELS

    Stella

On April 16, honey brown Stella, six months pregnant and ready to deliver, sat in Julian Stone’s hidden fortress home office. She left his bedroom to get away from her dueling lovers. Every day for five months, they argued about everything, and she was sick of them.

She told both of them to get out. Julian reminded her she was in his bedroom and he wasn’t leaving unless Reese left too. So she opted to leave and waddled to the office. There was no place else to go.

She has been in Julian’s fortress for five months. He brought her there because he was afraid she would be harmed if she remained at Pearl Mansion unprotected from demons and evil angels. He brought her entire family to this place. Julian was remodeling the family Mansion, and it was going to take at least another month. He was way ahead of schedule.

Stella was pregnant by her human husband Reese. She married him at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas seven months ago. Their unborn baby boy’s name is Joshua.

Although she was happy she married him, she wasn’t happy how she married him. She was completely drunk. She is part angel, and she didn’t know angels got stupid drunk from alcohol. They usually partied after a battle with apple juice or some other nonalcoholic drink.

She made love for the first time in ten years. Her first husband, Paul Jackson, died in a work-related accident. Stella never dated anyone after his death until Reese. On her third date with Reese, he got her drunk, and she married him. They were sexually starved.

Leon Reese is a retired homicide detective from the Pearl City Police Department in Pearl City, Maryland. He and his retired partner Barbara King became involved in the angel business through Stella and Julian.

Stella and Julian are Sephilim angels. Sephilim angels are the lowest link on the celestial chain of angels. As a matter of fact, they aren’t even mentioned in historical or biblical books. They have one book of prophecy—The Sephilim Prophecy.

They fight for God against demons and other evil things. They fight with their guardian angels by their side. Stella’s guardian angel is appropriately named Guardian. Julian’s guardian angel is Mesha.

Julian became Stella’s security specialist, and then he became her lover. He watched over her all her life and was determined to not let Reese interfere with their relationship. Of course, the men couldn’t stand each other. Stella loves them both.

Stella accompanied Julian on some of his battles. He was assigned to train her how to use her God-given supernatural powers. He was madly in love with her and eventually told her so. If it wasn’t complicated before, it gets more complicated from here.

Julian has a son by Reese’s partner Detective Barbara King. His name is Christopher. Christopher came into his powers early along with Jena, Stella’s eleven-year-old daughter. They were using their powers before their parents knew.

Christopher is sixteen years old. His mother never told him the deceased George King was not his father. When Julian told Christopher that he was his biological father, it was a disaster. Stella did damage recovery and put it all in perspective for Christopher and Jena.

Stella is forty-one years old. She sat in a chair staring out of the window over the treetops. The men became quiet in their argument on where Reese was going to sleep when the Mansion was finished. Understandably, Reese wanted to sleep with his wife. Julian wanted him to sleep in the basement level far away from Stella.

She listened for loud voices but heard none. When she looked up, Julian was standing in the doorway. He looks to be around thirty-five years old and has Italian features—sexy and handsome all rolled up into one man. He is a fierce warrior angel. His dark hair has grown down to his shoulders. He looked tired and was overextending himself to get the Mansion expanded to accommodate more people and to keep evil things out.

He is over six feet four inches tall. He always wore black. In rare moments, he would wear a white dress shirt. His favorite color was black. Inside his closet were black shirts, slacks, shoes, and ties.

Reese stood behind him. He was a handsome forty-six-year-old black man with a slightly lighter complexion than Stella’s honey-colored skin. He has hazel eyes, and his hair is cut short and close to his head.

He is around six feet tall and built like a brick body powerhouse. He has no fear of Julian. He punched Julian in his nose during one of their many fights. He could hold his own and isn’t the least bit afraid of the angel.

    Julian said, We’re sorry.

    She didn’t say anything.

Reese poked his head inside the doorframe. How are we going to solve this problem, Stella?

She stood up and looked at both of them sternly. She pushed her five feet six inches pregnant body pass the two of them, and they followed her back to the bedroom. She wished her wings would form. She would fly right the heck out of there. She sat down on the bed and didn’t look at either one of them.

Ask Elizabeth to decide. She’s doing the interior designing. Let her decide. I’m sick of the two of you. I want to sleep alone.

Reese grimaced. Julian announced he was going to the Mansion. Stella asked Reese to leave. Out the corner of her eye, she could see Julian shaking his head at Reese signaling him not to go too far. The baby was due any day. Reese said he was going to watch television, and Julian vanished.

Five months ago, Julian brought in a Sephilim midwife named Francis so the delivery would be smooth. Sephilim babies are full term at six months. Then Stella would have to get pregnant again with Julian’s child. She wasn’t looking forward to the pregnancy part. She definitely wanted to have sex. She didn’t want to go another six months to deliver Daniel. It was all written in the prophecy book. The good Sephilim angels coveted this book.

Stella felt sex-deprived. She has two men. There has been no sex for five months. The last time she had sex was with Reese. She met him at the penthouse her family owned. Stella stayed three days with Reese before she got sick. Julian was highly upset. He wanted to punch Reese, claiming he wasn’t careful with Stella. Reese claimed it was Stella who wasn’t careful with him. Reese was right.

At the time, Joshua didn’t mind his stepfather making love to his mother. Julian was extra, extra careful not to hurt her and the baby. He stayed with her two days before she visited Reese. He wanted to make sure his son was born too.

That was the beginning of the many times she would throw both of them out. She told them the baby is the one who decided not to be bothered with either of them. It was true. Baby Joshua made her throw up on one of their greatest enemies named Jerome Tatani. When Joshua gave signals to Stella, it was as if he was a grown man writing on her insides with a sharpened pencil.

Reese and Julian have unpleasant temperaments toward each other. However, they have pleasing styles of lovemaking which makes it exceptionally hard for Stella to decide who she wants. She told them she would decide after the babies were born.

Stella has other powers which surprised her Sephilim family. She could heal the wounds of people and angels. Once she healed them, they became bound to her. Once bound, they lived only for Stella. They knew her worries, and she knew theirs. They would die for Stella. They were bound to Stella’s heart through the Holy Spirit.

The realization of someone being bound to her happened in North Carolina. Stella healed a young woman named Serena Denkins. Serena’s family was murdered by two men with one name, Corey. They killed her husband and two young sons. She was the only survivor. She was stabbed over twenty times.

Stella and Julian arrived in her hospital room, and Stella healed her in the name of God. Once healed, Serena could not go back to her previous life. She ran away from the hospital and returned to Maryland with Stella and Julian. Her new identity is Sadie Stone. Her gift from the healing is being able to see and communicate with preternatural and supernatural beings. If anyone touched her, they would be able to see and talk to them too.

Unknowingly, Stella healed and bound Richard, her pseudo brother-in-law. He was kidnapped by some crazy female cult members near Howard and Pearl County’s border. He witnessed cannibalism as well as a host of other things while being held captive in an underground bunker. After Stella saved Richard, he became catatonic. She went to him and held him as he cried, comforting and binding him. Richard’s gift is the ability to read and transcribe the prophetic Sephilim book, along with other ancient scrolls.

The angels battled in Reese’s townhome and demolished it. After the battle, Julian tricked Reese into signing divorce papers. Reese almost committed suicide when he thought he wasn’t going to see her again. When Stella found out what Julian did, she told him she wasn’t going to divorce Reese. The three were stuck together.

Elizabeth’s father, Fred, married into Stella’s eclectic family. He gave Stella a brand new life. He hired her when she was unemployed and looking in dumpsters for food.

While they were in Las Vegas for Leah Pennington’s funeral, Fred tried to shoot his nephew Patrick Pennington. Leah is Fred’s sister. Fred believed Patrick had something to do with his sister’s death.

Stella healed Richard’s wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth pushed Patrick out of the way and took a bullet in the shoulder. Fred pulled the trigger. Stella immediately healed Elizabeth whose gift is being a peacemaker. The two are close like sisters, even though they’re not blood-related and are from different races.

Fred married a beautiful black woman named Vivian Walker, a.k.a. Granny. Granny is the grandmother of David Walker and his sister Jackie. Kara is Stella’s adopted daughter. She married David. They have a set of twin boys, Dorrell and Devin, and an adopted five-year-old daughter named Princess Jewel. Stella’s newborn sons will be younger than her grandchildren.

Each time Stella thought about the ties that bind, she got more confused. She may have inadvertently bound Fred. When his sister died, she held him and felt all his emotions flowing from his heart. After that, he became more protective.

Stella hasn’t explained any of the angel business and ties to Fred. So every now and then, the two would get into arguments. She just didn’t want to explain everything.

He thinks she should be with her husband Reese. He really doesn’t like Julian and wonders why Stella and Reese allow him in their lives. She knows she has to explain the angels to him. It was just a matter of time.

Stella’s eleven-year-old daughter Jena has angelic powers too. Elizabeth’s daughter Elisa is somewhat bound to Jena. Jena doesn’t have full Sephilim strength, but Jena saved Elisa’s life in a bomb explosion at Pear City Mall. Elisa is minimally bound to Jena. She can see ghosts too. She was the first one to see the ghost of Robert Pearl, the plantation owner who can’t seem to find his way to heaven.

The secrets of this family were getting deeper. Reese continually begged Stella to tell the family the truth. She was just way too pregnant to focus.

Out of all this, Reese and Julian were her true loves. Julian slept on the floor if she didn’t want him in the bed. He constantly made mistakes trying to protect her. When it came to her, he could not control his human emotions. His eyes changed colors from brown to deep blue. For a Sephilim, this meant he was emotionally unbalanced. Her brown eyes would turn to a beautiful color of emerald green.

Julian wanted her all to himself. He has been waiting for forty years. She inadvertently healed him after the battle with the two Coreys. Since he already possess supernatural powers, he has no idea what gift she may have given him. Her greatest gift to him would be his son Daniel.

Stella loved Julian, but he was such a control freak. He is trying so hard to protect her and her family. He is unwillingly protecting Reese. Sephilim live for a very long time. They can only be killed by another Sephilim or a demon with a triangular sharp gray object at the end of their tails stabbed directly through the angel’s heart. Sephilim cannot commit suicide, and they can’t be hurt by bullets.

Stella wanted to be with Reese before she knew Julian. Julian has known and watched over her all her life. He claims he is over two hundred years old. She suspects he is older.

Stella fell asleep wondering when their enemy, Tatani, was going to invade her dreams. Since their last encounter, he has decided to kill children.

In the early stages of her pregnancy, she vomited all over Tatani during the Atlantic City battle. She saw into his soul, his core. She knew his pain. She knew too much. They both knew he was bound to her, and he is pure evil.

Every state and local police agency in America was on the lookout for a serial child abduction killer. Even the Stone family demon tracker, Claudius, was having a hard time following this demon spawned by Tatani.

Stella repeatedly dreamed about this demon-possessed person. She couldn’t see his face clearly. A dark-winged Sephilim would touch him and jump him to another location immediately after the murder. Stella was frustrated because she couldn’t do anything while she was pregnant.

Julian installed special cameras throughout the entire fortress. He unknowingly keeps track of all the family members. He watches over the children; especially Elisa.

Elisa is the only child who wants to be away from the rest of the family. She wants to go to regular school. The children were being homeschooled. She wants to learn how to drive. She wants to date, and at sixteen years old, she is completely boy-crazy. Elisa and Christopher were boyfriend and girlfriend briefly last year. She became disinterested in him when she noticed other boys at her school.

Richard, Elisa’s father, would visit Stella nightly and give her reports on the children and progress on transcribing the book. Eventually, they asked Jena to cool Elisa’s heels. Richard wasn’t sure how long Jena’s trance would last. Elisa wants to kick up her boots. Unfortunately, she was behaving like her dad. Richard was a wildcat before he was kidnapped, which is one of the reasons why he was kidnapped.

Jena came into the room and sat down next to her mother. Stella reached for her and gave her a kiss.

Jena whispered, We’re taking a lesson break. Do you want me to stay for a while?

Please, sweetheart, Stella said drowsily. Your fathers are driving me crazy!

Okay, Mommy. Jena rubbed her mother’s belly. Christopher and I will stay here. I’ll get Christopher to sit with Papa Reese. I’ll be back to lay down with you.

    Okay, sweetheart.

She heard Reese leave to go to his own place somewhere in the building. Jena returned to lie down beside her mother. Christopher took a position on the chaise where Reese usually slept. She smiled at Christopher. He and Jena have become inseparable since they found out they were Sephilim angels.

Christopher said, We’ll give you some angel strength, Mommy Stella.

Stella fell asleep again. When Julian woke her up, her water broke, and she was having painful contractions. Joshua decided he was ready to come out of hiding.

    CHAPTER 2

THE BIRTH OF JOSHUA PART 1

    Kara

Kara knows her mother has a secret. Through the entire seven months of Kara’s pregnancy with the twins, Stella acted strange. She still found it hard to believe her mother married Detective Reese and Julian was fine with it. She told Kara she loves Reese and Julian. It was making Stella miserable.

Kara would visit her every day with the twins and Princess Jewel. One of Stella’s men would be keeping watch. Usually it was Reese because Julian was working at the Mansion. Whenever Julian and Reese were there, they would argue about Stella.

Elizabeth went through hell with Grandpa Fred to get his permission for Julian to upgrade the Mansion. Elizabeth has a way of bringing peace to the warring partners. Grandpa Fred still didn’t like Julian. Neither did Reese. They tried to hide it from the children. In front of the adults, he was fair game.

What Kara didn’t understand is why Julian and Reese went off together for hours and then return still arguing with each other. When they left, they looked like they were on some sort of mission. After the mission was over, they would go back to their continual fight. Stella withdrew more and more.

Living in Julian’s place was putting a damper on Kara’s plan to open her own day care. She finished her classes last summer. It was in her final class where she met Jennifer Hill.

She and Jennifer became friends before the truth came out about what was going on in Jennifer’s life. Jennifer was part of the female cult that kidnapped men for sperm. Crazy as it seems, they had an explicit plan to reproduce girls for their cult. That’s where Princess Jewel was found.

Jennifer kidnapped newborn Princess Jewel from the hospital. It was on every news station. Four years later, Stella realized who the little girl was, and all hell broke loose.

Jennifer’s mother, Janice, got away with the murder of over twenty men. She got away when Stella, Julian, Detective Reese, and Detective King, along with the help of the Pearl City Police, showed up at the cult farm. Janice got away that night, but Stella informed Kara that Julian caught Janice in another country. Kara was afraid to ask what that meant.

Stella forgave Jennifer. Kara did too. Jennifer was a horrible mess. Her twin sister Jessica died by the hands of Janice. Later, depressing news came to light about Jennifer and Jessica. They were kidnapped by Janice many years ago. Jennifer couldn’t believe all the things that woman made her do. Jennifer is still awaiting her trial.

Julian made it possible for Kara to visit Jennifer with Princess Jewel. Princess Jewel was the only thing Jennifer ever loved. In some weird way, she was like a mother to the child. After Kara went on maternal bed rest, she couldn’t visit Jennifer as often. She called her twice a week to let Princess Jewel talk to Jennifer and keep her spirit up.

Kara could tell Jennifer was depressed. Kara asked Julian to make sure Jennifer was being treated properly while she was in the state mental institution. Julian reported she was receiving fair treatment, but his main focus was Stella.

After the twins were born, Kara went to see Jennifer, and she didn’t look too good. Kara worried about her constantly. David assured her Jennifer was okay. Kara still held doubt.

This made it worse. Whenever a family member wanted to leave the premises, they needed permission from Julian. Then one of his men would accompany them. It was crazy.

His men took Kara to visit Jennifer. His men took Elizabeth, David, and Grandpa Fred to work every day. They took Richard and the children to the store. They accompanied Ursula and Margarita, the housekeeper and maid, whenever they went shopping. David said he felt like he was being held captive instead of protected by Julian’s men.

Elizabeth and Richard assured everyone the precautions were necessary. The children believed Elizabeth, all except her daughter Elisa.

For some reason, Julian, Sadie, Richard, Elizabeth, and Reese were holding on to some sort of secret involving Kara’s mother. They seemed so loyal and overprotective of Stella. Grandpa Fred was overly protective of her as well. Sometimes Kara felt overly protective.

Kara went into the nursery to get her sons Devin and Dorrell. They were seven months old and a chore. Margarita, the maid, was now the nanny. She has a one-year-old son named Carlos. The three babies were inseparable.

Princess Jewel usually hung out with Jena and the other children. Kara couldn’t believe how long it took to train Princess Jewel to sleep on top of a bed. She hid from the cult family by sleeping under Jennifer’s bed.

Kara put each boy on her hips and began the migration to her mother’s suite. She visited her whether she was asleep or awake.

    Caelestis

The baby, Joshua, was coming tonight. Caelestis sat on the rooftop of Julian’s hidden fortress listening to the family. He could hear some of their thoughts. No one could hear or see him. He is one of the Hidden. His territory is Europe.

He successfully blocked Tatani from invading Stella’s dream. He knew Stella was burning to tell Julian what she knew about his secrets. It wasn’t right for his son to keep secrets. Caelestis is going to make sure Stella finds her mother Anna Benton.

He tipped her off several months ago. He landed on the roof of the Mansion and mentally told her about his son Julian. Stella, the Star, kept the communication a secret from Julian as he slept.

Caelestis made sure she found the prophecy book by giving it to her pastor with instructions. Caelestis practically pushed Guardian at gunpoint to possess Stella and kill Jeff Willis with those magic demon bullets he gave to Paul. That was the beginning. Caelestis tried to stay one step ahead of Julian. Julian never forgave him for the role he played in the death of his wife Sophia and their unborn child.

Caelestis wanted to catch the serial child killer. Jerome Tatani, his half brother, put together a clever plan. The mortal demon host was being jumped to another area of the earth
