spirits, ghosts, demons or poltergeists, in this world they exist. Both Adam and
Jason knew this and believed in it too. From a very young age they had both
experienced it. This is their story of supernatural encounters. After reading this
your perception may be changed forever. It might make you believe in the unreal.
Perhaps what you thought you knew is the complete opposite to the truth.

Adam K. I am employed as a writer/journalist at Pongola News. The English language and love for the written word has been something I take pride in since my early days. I am currently a student at SA Writer’s College, studying the fine art of Magazine Journalism. As a writer, I tend to get lost in thought, lost in my vision, lost in the wonderful world of dreaming and fantasy. My writing-style has been influenced by many a horror writer, as the possibilities are endless. Imagination is my greatest tool. I am from a quaint little town in South-Africa, known as Pongola. It is a extremely small community, and provides me with the time to dream. I would describe myself as a dreamer that dreams for those without the means. As a person, however, I am a major rock music enthusiast, I believe that music is the most powerful form of magic, and that it can influence absolutely every aspect of a person’s life.

    CHAPTER ONE

    RUINED EXPECTATIONS

T he day began as any other would; for the most part it was normal. Jason awoke as he usually would, life was less than normal but he took it one step at a time. Jason was a handsome man he had dark brown hair and blue eyes, he was fairly tall and had a stocky built body. He was not one of those lucky people; he envied those people who seemed to succeed without trying. Jason was a salesman and worked hard for his money, he owed most of his success to working hard and being intelligently relentless business wise. Jason had witnessed many unexplainable things in his life, things he hardly dared to talk about. It went back very far. Though he had a religious upbringing, he knew evil existed. He deliberately stayed away from it though. Personally he never wanted to delve deeper into the paranormal, this all changed after an event occurred and changed his life. There were many encounters with spirits he could recall. One in particular was when he was in primary school, he was attending an annual school dance and the night was going well until one strange occurrence; A fellow student disappeared through the night, when the teachers realised she was missing, they went searching for her. As they all searched throughout the school, they were startled by her screams. A panic broke out so the teachers and some fellow students including Jason ran to find her. They found her standing in one spot, she seemed to be frozen, her screams were horrifying, and it looked as though she could see something nobody else could. She was hysterical as the teacher attempted to calm her down and led her away, Jason stood there in the dark staring at the same thing that had frightened her. Was this his first encounter with evil? He knew it was, he was not sure of what he was seeing at that point or how to describe it, but he had never felt such a cold thrilling presence in his life. The apparition had a dark appearance, it seemed to be hovering above the ground, but the one thing that was most scary was its indescribably evil eyes. They were red, and seemed to stare into his very soul. The figure seemed to stare at him and then simply turned to leave; as it hovered away it seemed to be dragging a bag-like object behind it in the shape of a body bag.

Jason was on the second floor and instinctively he tried to follow the apparition, which seemed to be moving at a fast pace. It seemed to disappear into the dark. He continued walking though and was startled by a second image: It seemed to be a little girl sitting on one of the dustbins next to the balcony, she had a bright light around her and she had no sense of evil to her. She seemed lost and Jason wanted to help her, but he had a feeling that he would not be able to because this was not someone who was attending this school, she was no longer a real person. This was the spirit of a lost soul, commonly known as a ghost. He then remembered a story of a girl who had fallen off the balcony many years before at that very school and he wondered if this might be her. In the quieted night he finally heard her voice, it seemed to echo as she asked her question, and the girl’s voice startled Jason. The question she asked was where are my mommy and daddy? as she said it she seemed to be looking at Jason, before he could reply she was gone. He went back down to the dance and spent the rest of the night trying to process the images of what he had seen, right there and then his belief in the paranormal grew stronger, he wanted to know more. This occurred many years before he would come in contact with something that real again, but he knew it would happen. He never did forget that night, he knew though that finding out more about it may help him understand it. He started reading books about paranormal activity and began to understand what he may be up against. He realised later that this would be a great advantage to him. But would he really be forced to use his knowledge ever again?

Jason lived in the small town of Virginia in the Free State in South Africa. He was still a young man being only 21years old, he was still finding his way in the world, he had many interests though and knew that he would one day find his way or true calling Jason was always haunted by his past experiences with the spiritual world and wondered if it would ever happen again. One strange day it all started again, he started to see things again he knew they were real because he was sound of mind, he did not suffer from dementia and he was definitely not deranged or insane. The spirits he saw were not normal, something had changed. These ones had a more dark presence and he wondered if he may be seeing demonic creatures because these specific ones seemed to be coming after him, what did they want? What had brought them back? He had not done anything to attract them. He feared for his very soul, but he was also intrigued by it and wanted to know more, he did not speak of it though no one would believe him anyway.

Days went on without him experiencing anything again but he still looked into the history behind people seeing demonic entities. Jason noticed a pattern in the cases that had been reported. Most of the people who became possessed had a historical involvement with demons and spirits, had he somehow come into contact with it because of his family history? He knew of family members who had been catholic priests and had specialised in exorcisms, could that have come back to haunt him in his own generation? He was not sure what the cause of it all was but he assumed it was going to get worse and not any better anytime soon. In the days to come he would encounter something so evil and frightening that he would never wish it upon his worst enemy. The demon like creatures appeared to him in dreams and when he was alone at home or in town, he would look at people and their physical appearance would suddenly change and the demons would be revealed. It was clear to him that he was dealing with something more dangerous than ever, though it frightened him, it did not deter him from studying into demonic possessions. He also started to see spirits and to him this was normal but it happened more frequently not only when he drove past the cemetery at night but also in his home and all around him. It was not normal and he was driven to think at times that he was going insane. The spirits seemed to cry out to him for some sort of assistance but he could not grasp what they were telling him, he would finally be able to grasp what they were doing when he conversed with an entity in his own home. One late Friday night he was laying in front of the television when suddenly his electricity went off. He proceeded to the kitchen to see if it had tripped, almost immediately he was confronted with a spirit or a ghost, he was not sure what it was. Jason immediately froze in his tracks. The spirit spoke to him in a very shallow and hollow voice similar to an echo, as it spoke he seemed to be transported to a parallel universe where time did not exist, the spirit warned him of tough times to come, he confirmed what Jason had been seeing all this time, the demons he had been seeing were real and they were seeking to possess his very soul. They had yet to succeed because his spirit was too strong and he lacked the adequate amount of fear in order for them to do so. Jason asked the spirit how he knew all of this, how he could prevent it and what he had done to deserve such a fate.

The spirit calmly responded by saying that it was not his fault, it was because his family had been involved with spirits and demons in the previous generations and this had given the demons an opportunity to take revenge on Jason whose ancestors had performed exorcisms to order the evil out of their occupants at that time. The spirit then told him that he would need to find another young man who had similar experiences in such phenomena. He would need to find a man by the name of Adam Thurston, who resided in Centurion in Pretoria. That was all he was told by the spirit and the spirit left him. As soon as that happened his electricity was restored and he went back to the living
