    CHAPTER 1

    THIS IS NO ORDINARY FAMILY

    Stella

Late in the afternoon, Stella Jackson sat in her home office looking at Betsy Lawrence; one of her best friends and Personal Assistant to her family. The sexy Julian Stone; her personal bodyguard and private Security Specialist, was seated in the other chair. It was the first Monday in October.

She avoided looking into Julian’s sexy brown eyes. He had a halo over his head so bright that she shielded her eyes with her hands as they spoke.

Last month, Stella’s family made it through another crisis. A secluded farm family, the Hills, kidnapped her brother-in-law, Richard Nottingham. They almost killed her while she was trying to save him. Prior to that, she shot and killed a serial killer with the help of her guardian angel. This is truly no ordinary family!

Stella dreamt of the events long before they happened. She had a gift from God; which is the story she was telling any mortal person who would listen. Her gift was rooted in her dreams. But the real truth, she could talk to angels. She talked to her guardian angel, appropriately named Guardian, everyday. He would appear to her whenever she called. Since she was an avid television fan; he appeared in the form of her favorite television, recording or movie stars.

Stella was gradually turning into some sort of angel herself. She had no idea what was going on in her body. She felt little tickles in her back; as her wings were forming. Guardian told her she would be receiving supernatural powers from their all powerful and supernatural God. He told her she had a purpose on earth; to rid demons with these unique and special abilities. These demons could not be dealt with by mere mortals.

Julian Stone is part angel too. He is a Sephilim Warrior Angel; and the Head Angel of Sector 6. His firm was hired last month to protect her family. He said nothing to her about her halo and she said nothing to him about his.

Both were part angel and part man progenies. This meant they had at least one parent who was a Sephilim angel. They had an angelic side and a human side.

Several weeks ago, Stella ended up on the wrong end of a needle filled with a drug known as M99. While she was unconscious, Stella visited her deceased husband, Paul Jackson, in heaven. He told her that her father was in heaven, but her mother was still on earth. When she was a child, Stella was told by her foster parents both of her parents died in a car crash. Stella believed them. She was very young and didn’t remember them. Now, her foster parents are dead, too. But, while in heaven, she learned something different. Now, she wanted to find her mother.

We need to start with your birth certificate, Julian said.

Lord, he was a handsome man. He looked of Italian decent. He was over six feet tall, had dark hair, dark eyes and he always wore dark clothes. Whenever he smiled, which was a rare moment, he had beautiful white teeth. He was all business; he was perfect. For Stella, he was a little too perfect.

She focused her eyes on Betsy, Did the birth certificate come?

Yes! Betsy said as she leaned over and pulled the certificate out of an envelope.

Stella and Betsy met one winter night at a dumpster. She and Betsy were diving for food. Stella was unemployed and Betsy was homeless.

Now, Stella was rich beyond her comprehension. She had met a man named Fred Mills. He gave her a new life. Her new family moved from one of the poorest neighborhoods into the wealthiest community in Pearl City, Maryland; The Pearly Gates. They lived in the Mansion once owned by the tobacco slaveholder, Robert Pearl. He left the Mansion to his freed slaves. Vivian Walker Mills, aka Granny, was a direct descendent who had lived in the Mansion all her life. Her grandson, David Walker, lived with her.

David Walker married Stella’s adopted daughter, Kara. Stella, Kara and Jena; Stella’s ten year old daughter, moved in with them.

Fred Mills; who visited the home frequently, fell madly in love with Vivian Walker and they were happily re-married on Labor Day weekend. They went to Hawaii earlier in the year and secretly took the nuptials. His daughter, Elizabeth, didn’t want her father to be in an interracial union. Stella didn’t care. She made them get married all over again with a gigantic reception. Elizabeth and Stella became sisters during the kidnapping ordeal.

Shortly thereafter, Elizabeth moved into the Mansion with her family; husband Richard, eight year old son, Richie, and fifteen year old daughter Elisa. Stella and Elizabeth quickly bonded as sisters. To make it a full house, Vivian’s granddaughter; Jackie, moved back home with her seven year old son, JJ. She brought along the family cat, Elmo.

If the place wasn’t full enough, they hired a German housekeeper name Ursula who brought along the family puppy; a Rottweiler name Daisy. Ursula took up residence in the loft apartment above.

Betsy convinced Stella to hire security to keep track of all the folks who lived in the Mansion. She wanted to make sure no harm came to any of them.

Kara and David were pregnant and expecting twins. Also, they were in the process of adopting a little girl name Princess Jewel. Four years ago, she was kidnapped from the hospital. The kidnapper, Jennifer Hill, is awaiting her day in court.

Stella loved her family and would protect them at all costs. The assistant pastor at her church, Lydia, is Sephilim and could see her guardian angel too. She helped Stella with some major adjustments to the Mansion in order to keep demons out. Also, she sent her guardian to help save Stella from the nasty demon of the secluded farm family, the Hills. These half humans and half angels are able to witness firsthand the battle between good and evil.

Betsy shook her head, It appears your mom was born at home. The address is 819 Beal Street. When I looked it up on Google Earth, I didn’t see anything but a plot of land. They must have knocked the house down. There’s a church next to it, though.

Perhaps, I could send someone down to talk to some of the people, Julian said.

I want to go, too; Stella smiled. I want to see where my mom was born. Someone might remember her.

If you want to go, Ms. Stella, I’ll make flight and hotel accommodations for you. Julian stared at her. But you must not go alone.

    I can’t fly. Stella frowned.

    Julian looked puzzled, Why not?

    She answered, Fear.

    Betsy laughed, Fear of flying?

Yes. Stella replied; she wasn’t laughing with Betsy.

It would take a long time by train. You have a private jet. Why don’t you fly down? It wouldn’t take but an hour at best. Julian was trying to soothe her fear.

I can’t fly, she responded. I’m too afraid.

That’s amazing. Julian was searching for an answer. Would you like me to drive you there? It would probably take five and a half hours.

Betsy grinned, That’s a good idea!

Stella knew she was supposed to say yes but she didn’t want to sound too eager. Guardian told her Julian has to train her and teach her how to use her supernatural powers. She knew she was going to be alone with him for a few days.

Truthfully, she wanted to have sex with him. She was scared half to death. She hasn’t had sex in ten years. Her hormones were rallying. She had to get a hold of them.

She just felt this overwhelming need to be with him. Guardian warned her Julian was influencing her emotions. Reese should be her lover. She agreed to that, too.

Detective Leon Reese kissed her one Sunday night. It was an unexpected beautiful kiss. Stella met him when he was assigned to the case of Jeff Willis; the serial killer she murdered by accident.

Again, he was assigned to the Hill kidnapping case in which Stella was involved. Their paths kept crossing. He was absolutely the sexiest mortal man she had ever laid eyes on since her husband passed away.

He is a black man with a light complexion; over six feet tall and has sexy hazel eyes. Somehow, she became torn between these two men.

The two men could not stand each other. There was some sort of rift between them. Their paths kept crossing. Detective Reese had a cute, white blonde headed partner name Barbara King; and she despised Julian too. She didn’t have too much warmth for Stella, either.

Julian broke her concentration, I would be more than happy to drive you to Rocky Mount.

His voice was so smooth; his words so precise. Betsy grinned even more. She could feel the sexual tension between them.

This would only be a business trip, Mr. Stone. Stella said.

I understand that, Miss Stella. You are my client. He was so smooth.

Okay. Betsy, please make hotel arrangements for us. I want to leave as soon as possible. Wednesday would be good. She continued to divert her eyes away from Julian’s.

Okay then. I guess I’ll go do that, Betsy said hinting the meeting was over. She stood up to leave but Julian didn’t move.

He said, I need to talk to you privately, Miss Stella.

Stella’s heart fluttered. What could this be about? Okay.

Betsy got up and left the office. She was no longer their go-between. She purposely closed the door behind her.

Stella was in a room by herself with him! She could feel her female anatomy beginning to stir.

What is it you would like to talk to me about? She finally looked into his eyes.

He began, We both know our places. I’m sure your guardian has delivered the message that I am to train you and I thought it would be a good idea to do this while we were in Rocky Mount.

There was no need for her to pretend like she didn’t know what he was talking about. Instead, she looked at his lips and his eyes; and his hair; and his sexy muscles through his black suit. She couldn’t help herself.

Magically, J. Moss; her favorite gospel recording artist, appeared behind Julian and she snapped back to reality.

My guardian has told me this, she said as she looked back down at the certificate.

Your guardian will be with you; as he is right now.

    Stella didn’t look up.

I have some business in the area anyway. This would be a good time to show you some things about Sephilim angels, he continued. Plus, I have to show you how to protect yourself and what we will be doing together.

Stella felt her thighs throb. She couldn’t look at him after that statement. There was a silence between them.

Finally, she said, I have to tie up some things here before I go.

    Does that include Detective Reese?

He hit a nerve. Stella looked at him sternly, Sometimes Julian you go too far. It is none of your business what I have to do.

But, does it cover Detective Reese?

Do you have a problem with him?

Yes. I don’t want you to be with him.

That is not your decision Julian.

    Complete silence.

You are right, he said to break it. I just wanted to put it on the record.

Stella felt warm all over. Guardian; looking like J. Moss, moved his head back and forth in the no gesture.

Okay, it’s on the record; anything else? She said softly.

He wore a black turtleneck sweater underneath a black blazer and black slacks. She tried to keep her eyes on the birth certificate. He smiled and stood up to leave the office.

I need to know a couple of things, Julian, she said. Why is Jennifer still alive?

Because that is what the Lord wanted, he replied looking down at her. She was not the demon’s host; Janice was. Jennifer was influenced by Janice.

It’s a shame she got away.

    She didn’t get away.

Stella looked at him confused, What do you mean?

Janice is dead. We found her in Nassau. What is the other thing? He leaned over the desk a little closer to her.

Can you turn your halo off? It is really blinding bright.

Yes, I can. He turned and left the room. His halo went out.

Stella watched him as he went down the hall. She immediately wondered how he could turn his halo off like a light switch. She wondered how Janice died and what role Julian played in her death.

She felt the physical attraction they had for each other. Guardian warned her many times that she should be with Reese, Julian is a powerful angel; different angels have different strengths just as different demons have different strengths.

    CHAPTER 2

    A SUSPICIOUS CHARACTER

    Fred

Fred and Richard stood outside Stella’s office waiting for a chance to talk to her after Julian left. Stella looked up from watching Julian walking down the hall to see them. They followed her gaze.

What are you two up to? she asked.

Fred wanted to ask her the same question about her and Julian. He pulled Richard in the office with him and closed the door. They both sat down. They had a strange look on their faces.

We have a problem, Fred began.

Richard spoke over him, I made a big mistake, Stella. It’s my fault! I don’t want Elizabeth to know!

Stella looked confused, To know what?

    They were silent.

She repeated slightly irritated, To know what?

Fred blurted it out, Richard made sex tapes stored on SD chips and we can’t find them!

Stella’s eyes widened. She looked at each man back and forth. Then she said, Dear Lord! You’re serious!

We can’t let Elizabeth know! Richard cried out.

Stella said, Hush, you’re going to let the whole world know.

Fred explained further, When we went to Hawaii, David and I searched Richard’s office. We couldn’t find the SD chips.

We can’t let Elizabeth know! Richard cried out again. We are doing so much better, now. This could ruin everything!

Stella held up her hand to stop them from speaking. She said, "I’ll get Julian to look into it. He is very secretive and will get to the bottom of
