Chapter 1
The story takes place in Philadelphia, PA. Sugar is a 5 foot 10 dark skin, single parent taking care of her 10 year old son, Sosa. They both stay in a duplex apartment with her brother Tae; Tae’s a 35 year old construction worker. Sugar and Sosa have been staying with Tae for the past year and a half. Everything’s cool as long as she pays her half on all the bills. While staying with Tae she meets a chick name Leah, and instantly they click. Sugar likes Leah because Leah keeps it real. She’s not the type of chick who keeps shit started or has her name in a bunch of unnecessary drama. Leah and Sugar are at Leah’s one bedroom apartment sitting in the kitchen at the glass round table drinking beer and Leah says,
Did you hear about Rico messing with that young girl Meka? He should be ashamed of himself for even depriving her of her innocence’s like that. Pour me another glass of beer."
For real he doesn’t know what he wants. He stays hollering at anything with a split and a bump on their back. Most dudes might as well get on all fours because they dogs.
That’s the truth.
Sugar starts looking around the apartment and is amazed how clean the house is because last night they partied like animals. Last night was mad wild they were spilling crap all on the floors; they were black now there tan again.
Someone spilled beer on my suede couch!
Sugar glances at the black suede two piece furniture.
That shits not even paid for. That’s another reason I don’t like having some people over, they trifling and don’t have respect for other people’s property.
Sugar nods her head and looks at Leah as she talks; caramel skin tone with buck teeth and a gap. Leah has the fliest dreads in the city, gold in the front and plume in the back; they stop in the middle of her back.
Sugar pulls out a Newport short cigarette and starts smoking. She knows its gets to Leah. I can’t see how you smoke that stinky shit. I stopped smoking when I was pregnant.
Leah goes into her brown coach bag and pulls out a dime bag of weed, Blaze that up I’m ready to get high with you.
She starts rolling up and says, It’s some funny people that are on Facebook. They all in my inbox asking the same questions, do you have a man? Can I take you out? I’m a cashversationist and if you aren’t talking about Benjamin’s, you’re not talking about shit.
Now I agree with you on that
as they both giggle together.
She goes in her purse grabs a lighter and fires up the blunt. That smells good, where did you get that from?
My Lil Boo. He has plenty. Go to Rico’s page in see what he put on his post. Look at him in his boxers and t-shirt on looking like a fool; he needs to stop. He looks gay.
Yes he does!
You have to sit back and watch him when he starts drinking and smoking, because that’s when his female tendencies come out
says Leah.
For real cause you know I don’t be around him like that.
I do, you know I be around him like that.
Can I hit the blunt?
Girl, I almost forgot about you.
Sugar inhales the weed and says, It smells good and taste good.
Anyway like I was saying, his nasty ass probably got something because he be fucking lotty, dotty, every damn body,
says Leah.
Girl I didn’t know he was like that, that’s why I be trying to keep my shit to myself because it’s too many diseases out here.
Boom! Boom! Leah jumps up paranoid and says, Who the hell is that knocking on my door like they’re crazy?
Looking out the peek hole, It’s Rocco!
Rocco walks in with his twelve pack of Bull. No one drinks that
said Sugar.
That’s how I like it.
He puts his beers in the refrigerator then sits down in the black steel chair at the kitchen table. Leah adores his statue 6 foot 4' dark skin, milk does a body good. Rocco has his dark blue city uniform on with his brown timberland boots. He’s a hardworking man indeed. In his deep voice, I saw Magic at McDonald’s. She acted like she was too good to speak with her crusty feet.
Leah and Sugar both laugh simultaneously. Some of these chicks be having the game messed up, they walk around like they shit don’t stink; everybody shop at the same stores Wal-Mart, Target, Conway, and Rainbow.
