Introduction

When I look back on my life, I only vaguely remember every man I was with. Like relationships themselves, some stand out more than others. I moved to New York a year ago to be an actress. (Applause please.) I was heartbroken when leaving my hometown; a girl who was hurt herself and needed someone else to feel the same way. It’s a place I prefer to not revisit so often anymore. I’ve just left another man, contemplating nightly if he’s with someone else, or if I could have done something differently, but at least I’d tried-I wish this was enough reassurance. He’s there too. Also back home is my friend named Alex. Everyone in his family has gained their freedom, everyone but him. I offered to marry him once so he could have his too, but he would never do that unless he was in love. He lives with that
