    Before starting this study keep an open mind and if you have a higher power ask for wisdom and understanding for this book to enter your heart.

    Introduction

    I never thought I would see the inside of a jail cell. As a child I always thought if I started smoking I would get involved with a gang and start stealing, so I did my best to stay away from that stuff.

    But God has a funny way of working out a person’s preconceived notions of others, even as a child. As He says, Judge not, and you will not be judged (Luke 6:37). So after eight years of a relatively blissful life as a child my mother and father had a divorce. With my life situation abruptly changed it was now time for the next phase of my life.

    It was not always easy growing up in a single parent home. Thank God my mom and dad did the best they could when I was young to prepare me for life. My dad taught me the basics in using tools and encouraged scouting activities as a young child. And my mom took me to community activities for reading, sports and play time with other children.

    As I grew older I started swaying from my upbringing. I hung-out with neighbourhood friends and school mates where, at times, we caused some minor trouble and mischief. I was
