The Adventures of Chris and Tom’S Grandpa - JDS Goldrush

    Part 1

Chris and Tom Visit Their Grandpa

Well Tom and Chris, it all started when my Brother and I were just kids. Our Grandpa would tell stories of the Gold Mining days of the old west and how him and his dad, our Great Grandfather, would mine for gold where he grew up, in Idaho Springs. He’d tell us stories of how they would be mining for gold and digging into the side of a mountain, then sticking some TNT or dynamite in and lighting the fuses, then having to run out as quickly as you could to get out of the way of the rocks that would be coming down on you. ‘No sir,’ he’d say, ‘there was no job more dangerous than that.’ Those were the days when life was tough and outhouses were cold, but you still had to look like fine china and silverware, since you had to dress up to look good enough to go anywhere. To tell you the truth boys, I hated it. Your Great Granddad was so strict, either you did what he said or you had to go get a switch. You sure didn’t want that; no sir. But don’t get me wrong, Dad was a good man. You see boys, it was the Gold Rush days, where every man digs for himself or the other men would try to steal your claim, and there were times when you didn’t tell anyone either. You just had to show that you were doing good without bragging about where you found your Pot ‘o Gold.

"Anyway boys, I am going to tell you the story about Great Grand Pappy and me, but you got to promise you won’t tell your Grandma about it, because boy I would never hear the end of it.

So Tom and Chris, do you promise?"

Yea, we promise. We won’t tell Grandma; but why Grandpa?

Well boys, let me tell you the story, and it’s true for what I am about to tell you. See, your Great Grand Pappy and me were taking a ride outside, up by where he worked, and we were hunting for deer, for dinner you might say. Well, we were about to give up because it started to snow and it was getting cold. You sure you want to hear this story?

    Yea Grandpa, said Tom.

Come on Grandpa, tell us the story, said Chris.

Okay Chris, I will tell you and Tom, but first let me get a cup of coffee. You want some sodas?

    Yea, sounds good, they said.

    Part 2

The story of Great Grand Pappy’s Treasure Map

    Mmm, that coffee is good.

So are the sodas. Thanks Grandpa, the boys said.

"Okay. Well, let’s see, where was I? Oh yea, your Great Grand Pappy and
