Living the Nightmare - Nicole Jalonen
CHAPTER ONE
What the hell was that?
Andy Summers breathed as he sprang into a sitting position in his navy blue covered single bed and gazed around his moon lit, navy blue room nervously, wondering if the soft,
TAP! TAP!
Noise that had woken him had been just a dream, or if he had heard it, where had it come from?
Was it a burglar trying to break into his grandparent’s house?
‘Don’t be paranoid Andy,’
The seventeen year old told himself as he took deep breath and lay back down as he took a deep breath to calm his heart that was beating so fast with fear it felt as if it would burst out of his thin chest that was beneath the green pajama shirt he wore to bed.
But no matter how hard he tried sleeping eluded him for what felt like hours, but as he pushed his brown hair out of his green eyes and tried to sleep again, he told himself.
That noise you thought you heard was nothing more then your imagionation going wild because its night, and everybody knows we are all pron to scaring ourselves at night because its dark out and we are alone in our bedrooms and being alone scares anybody !
He told himself, and soon he was drifting off into sleep again.
His attempt at sleep did not last long however, because as soon as he felt himself beginning to doze off into a restless sleep. His ears twitched as they caught an quick and very quiet:
TAP! TAP!
That sounded very much like a pebble, or something of that size colliding with the glass of his single bedroom window!
‘I definitely heard it this time!’
The seventeen year old, thin boy hissed as he sprang once again from his bed and ran to his window that was across his wooden floor between his dresser and computer desk.
With his heart banging against his chest in fear and apprehension of what awaited him. He threw the window open and hissed into the sprawling darkness of the tree sheltered back yard:
Who’s there, show yourselves or else!
Calm down!
A boys’ voice that sounded no older then himself growled as he stepped out into the moons pearl white light and gazed up at the window Andy stood in.
"I’m not here to hurt you or your grandparents,
He promised.
I just wanna give you a warning."
Well warn away . . . . then get the frig off my property before I call the cops!
Andy cried,
Trying to ignore the creepy feeling he was getting at the fact this teenagers voice sounded identical to his own.
‘But that’s impossible!’
He told himself as the cloak wearing visitor went on:
Its actually a warning and a plea for your help because your sister Britney Summers is in grave danger.
Andy’s jaw dropped and then it curved into a smile on his thin face as he laughed.
A sister, that’s good, sorry I can’t play along with your prank any longer dude . . . . but I aint got a sister, I’m an only child, who lives with his grandparents cuz his parents died in a car accident when I was four!
Yes,
The other boy agreed through a sigh.
I know your parents, Shannon and Shawn Summers were killled . . . .
But they weren’t killled in a car accident, you only think that because your memory of the last year and anything having to do with your sister has been erased!
Oh ya, erased, huh?
Andy said sarcasticly, as he raised an eyebrow.
You mean like magically erased, whoooo! Please there is no such tning as magic, your nuts!
Growling in frustration at his not listening to what he was being told . . . . he was determined to get through to him. So he hissed.
Your mother and father knew magic existed because they have been protecting this world and the next from it since they were children themselves. Hell Andy, they died protecting it . . . . doesn’t that anger you, even a little. You’ve lived your entire life without them because some wizard took it upon himself to snuff their life out like a light bulb!
Pounding his fists down on the window cil Andy sneered,
Shut up, don’t you dare talk about my parents . . . . you have no right!
Before the hooded boy had a chance to respond Andy had run down the stairs and out the front door and around to the back yard. And before the other boy knew what had hit him he had punched him square in the face.
What the frig?!
The young boy gasped as, when his fist made contact with the other boys’ nose. His whole body from head to toe blinked in and out, as if he wasn’t really there!
As Andy watched he couldn’t help thinking that it reminded him of when he played a game on his playstation three and his character in the game died only to come back for another turn and flicker in and out for a few seconds, until they came right into existence once again and looked normal, whimpering.
You can’t do that, I am not that strong of a clone.
Not that strong of what?!
Andy gasped as his mouth fell open in surprise.
Seezing the moment that the other boy was to stunned to fight him, the cloaked boy grabbed Andy’s thin shoulders as he screamed in horror the pair vanished behind a blinding bright white light!
When it was gone the yard was once again empty, save for crickets chirping and owls hooting. As they were each hidden by the shadows and bushes and grass.
CHAPTER TWO
What the frig just happened, and where the hell are we . . . . ?!
Andy asked in a fearful voice as that same white light appeared and disappeared, leaving he and the black cloaked boy standing in a chandler lit room with marble floors and was windowless.
You’re kidnapping me aren’t you?!
He growled him, not waiting for him to answer is previous questions as he angrily stomped towards him. Shouting,
That’s it isn’t it, you kidnapped me . . . . just answer me this how did we get here all that showed up was a bright light?!
"Whao . . . . slow down,
The other boy gasped as he sat Andy onto a wooden, four poster bed with black blankets and pillows on it.
Saying assuringly:
I wasn’t lying when I said your sister Britney needs your help . . . .
Ya because a wizard named Devolin is after her, news flash!
Andy shouted sarcasticly as waved a hand in front of the boys’ still concealed face.
I don’t have a sister named Britney Summers, hello, I’m an only child!
This time the cloaked boy punched Andy so hard in the nose that it started bleeding as he cried,
You do have a sister you idiot, you just don’t remember Britney because . . . . !
"Because why . . . .
Andy shouted back as he said in a squeeky voice:
Whoo, don’t tell me I don’t remember her because Harry Potter put a spell on me that made me forget I had a sister and think I’m an only child . . . . you got any proof Merlin?!"
No sooner had Andy spoke then the other boy tossed his hand to the side and laughed hysterically as Andy was flung into a wall, back first and as Andy looked up at the cloaked figure he growled,
How was that for proof, got anymore smart allic remarks now jack ass?!
Ouch!
Was all Andy said before he leaned over and passed out cold!
And you said he was the jack ass,
The black haired and bearded wise one stated as he came into the bedroom of his castle and lifted the knocked out boy onto the double black covered bed and covered him up. Saying,
Well I would say you’re a dumbo and a jack ass because you knocked him out just when we needed him . . . . nice goin genius, we don’t have time to fool around. For all we know Devolin could be taking another world over as we speak and now you’ve wasted time by knocking out some more help to Britney, don’t you see, I was hoping to use him to jog her memory hopefully . . . . so now we have to wake him up and get him ready before she and the others arrive!"
Hey I was just tryin to get him to believe I or we were magical!
Oh,
The wise one nodded sarcasticly as he hissed,
And you could not have shown him we were magical any other way, other then using telekenesis to throw him into a wall . . . . nice goin!"
"He pissed me off,
The other boy protested with an uncaring shrug of his thin shoulders.
Said we were like Harry Potter, whoever the hell that is . . . ."
Well next time find a better way to show him magic’s real, maybe one that doesn’t involve getting him knocked out.
Ok sorry, how do you want me to help?
Just wake him up because Britney will be here soon.
*
Britney, sweatheart, wake up . . . . we have a busy day ahead of us . . . .
I’m up, I’m up.
The fourteen year, black haired, blue eyed girl yawned as she stretched her black sleeved arms up to the sun lit blue sky and sprang to her feet and dusted off her brown jeans, feeling ready for whatever the day might bring her way.
And after a delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon and pan cakes her day got underway for they had gotten the black leather bound spell book from the hollow heart statue in the castle on the goverening island of the magic world, called Rootoo. But now they’re task was to collect the ingrediants needed to create strong magic clones. Ones that Devolin couldn’t destroy!
The day of ingrediants collecting was going well, but as the golden sun hung high above. Bearing witness to whatever might happen. Britney and the ghosts of Starla and Professor Peterson had no way of knowing that danger lay ahead in the Uni meadow. Where the magic worlds unicorns.
They moved into the speckled with white and gold unicorn meadow and immediately were bombarded with rays of red and black spell lights that were an assortment of spells that Devolin was throwing at them as he stocked towards them, yelling through gritted teeth.
Hand over the child or suffer the consiquences as I send you both down to hell!
Nitro wouldn’t want us!
Professor Peterson bellowed at the hunchback telepathicly as he and starla flew in front of Britney and around his head, but their efforts to save her or themselves were in vain as, with one swip of his hand the two ghost orbs fell to the ground, fast asleep!
But how did you put them to sleep, I thought only the Enchanted Sleeper could put people into deep sleeps?!
Well he did, or rather. We did!
The hunchback sneered wickedly as he smirked slyly :
"You see my darling daughter Nitro found a way to kill the Sleeper temporarily so he could pocess me so I could use his abilities to further my plans of conquering the magic
World."
So why don’t you just put me to sleep and kill me and be done with it?!
She asked weary of possibility that he might do that very thing.
But instead the black robed hunchback smirked as he viciously snarled:
Because you are more fun to toy with when you’re alive since you think you can’t trust me!
He stated as he stomped through the long green grass towards her, before he could reach her Britney threw her hand out and with her telekenesis threw a boulder right at the mans head, shouting,
I don’t just think can’t trust you . . . . I know because I know you caused my not being able to remember my life before I woke up in your house and you fed me that pathetic story of mom being murdered by a gang of eleven or twelve wizards so they could rule the magic world in our places, I remember it like it was yesterday . . . . !
The young girl hissed, through a vail of tears that were now coming down her thin, pale face and dripping into her long, black hair. As she quoted Devolin word for word, almost as if she were reliving that day a year ago when she had woken up on her dads couch and first realised she could not remember anything he was telling her had happened to them since she was a newborn baby.
I thought, he’s my dad . . . . he wouldn’t lie to me!
She exclaimed now, tossing another rock at his head, and when he dodged that one to she sobbed.
But then I started asking questions and protested against you actually wanting tmurder the people who had taken our place as the Wise ones, the leaders of the magic worlds, and what did you do?!
She asked as she took a deep breath, trying to calm her pounding with anger heart. And when Devolin did not speak went
