About this ebook

Man as a creature is superior to other lesser elements of our ecosystem. Superior in wisdom, mannerism, conduct and lifestyle and should of course instruct all nature in terms of leadership and dominion. It becomes amazing however that ALMIGHTY MAN would be asked to stoop so low as to GO TO THE ANT; CONSIDER HER WAYS AND BE WISE... (Proverbs 6:6)

This rather imposing statement clearly spotlights the ant as tiny and frail as it is as an unusual agent of wisdom, an embodiment of strength and a master of leadership coordination. Our study of the ant presents some strong lessons to us on the preferred approach to life and judgement of issues in a way that will inspire the much needed change in our own thought process and overall view of life. We will learn from the ant that life is about determination and the will to push through against all odds until we succeed. We will acquire the never give up spirit of the ant, we will cast less blames on our poor states of being, our nation, background and ecology for our present outcomes in life and we will develop a strong determination from within to try again and never retreat or surrender until we win!

The Way of the ANT is a book on National Transformation by mindset reengineering. It is a book that will get us to see things from a standpoint of personal responsibility and collective positive delivery towards communual rebirth and social emancipation.

We each constitute a tiny part of our larger society and each individual must endeavour to play his/her role and well enough to create the appropriate societal linkage that will eventually constitute grounds for national growth and global enhancement. We are important! We must create value! We should not just exist, but rather live in such a way that our own endpoints in life will stir up sufficient motivation in the man next door to effectively champion his own course to natural excellence. This is the way of the ant!

    Dedication

T HIS BOOK IS DEDICATED TO the CONVERGE team, a team of young bright minds who I’m quite sure will grow up to take over the leadership of our country. It was at their event that I first had the opportunity to share my ANT story.

To my lovely wife, Chinyerum, who bore me all my four children, Blossom, Bliss, Heritage (Ikechi Jnr.) and Hero. These ones give me all the support that I need to drive the needed change around me that people see. In their eyes is revealed the brightness and beauty of our preferred future, the place wherein lies real values for true national transformation; a place that gives me the impetus to believe that a day will come when everything we now wish for in our truly great nation, Nigeria, will be revealed just as we have prayed.

    Acknowledgements

T HIS BOOK WOULD NOT BE what it is without the sacrificial contributions of the many people who put in those encouraging efforts to see to its completion today. To these ones I will remain eternally grateful.

I will specifically thank my cherished friend and pastor, Ven. John C. Adubasim, for the little ways, he constantly pushed to see to the conclusion of this book. I will also not forget my big sister and friend, Comfort Woko, who coordinated the team that typed the work. My joy was preserved in their carefulness and ability to return the original manuscript safe and intact as I would require.

I also want to appreciate my friends and colleagues: Samuel Tasker, Merit Fyneface-Gogo and Lynda-Vanessa Azoro, who all three made very significant contributions to the script, offering me their time, advice and wisdom. Today, they have made a difference to my life.

My appreciation goes to my pastor, brother and friend, Ven. Basil C. Orah and his entire team of clergymen at my local church, St. Andrew’s (Ang.) Church, Rumuola Deanery, where my family and I have worshipped and grown through three generations to date, still bouncing in the strength and sustenance of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. To all other spiritual leaders and role models whose lives and teachings have helped develop me into the quality of a man I now am and still aspire to become.

I will remember my fellowship of great youth at Etche, the place of my birth, who will ride on to take over their world when the time is ripe. They are constantly being propelled to the place of greatness through sound teachings and fresh inspiration from God’s throne by God’s own general, the Bishop Okechukwu Precious Nwala, and the entire team of missionaries and pastors who have left all comfort to serve at the Lord’s vineyard. My prayer is that their labour of love will not be in vain.

Finally, yet most importantly, to my dad, Sir Prof. Ikechi Nwogu and my mum, Dame Silverline Nwogu and the rest of my family for sending me to school and making me the person I ought to be.

    Preface

I SAAC’S BLESSING UPON HIS FIRST born, Esau, never ceases to amaze me. Yes, it went beyond words just spoken for the mere sake of it; it was more like a prophecy that must come to be. This word would ordinarily cast a shadow of everlasting enslavement upon Esau, yet there was a condition attached, which stood to make all things different. This condition now became a strong hinge upon which the door to his manifestation laid. It became not just a proverb placed upon the life of a growing man that he would serve his younger brother, but a choice. Isaac said to him: ‘You will serve your younger brother, but when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.’ (Genesis 27:40)

The manifestation of the lifetime word spoken upon the life of Esau became tied to this specific reference point and now it was the young man’s prerogative to break free and excel in his life or otherwise remain the shadow of a personality he was ‘blessed’ to be. Did he do anything about this? Well, later developments in his life told a lot about him as his once shadowed personality paved way to a more vibrant and purpose-driven achiever who no longer saw the need to blame his ill fortunes on the stealer of his blessings, because life had revealed a whole new vista of grace and splendour to him. He was now the chieftain of glory and wealth as his long held bitterness with which he begrudged the other son of his mother was fully replaced by a new life of mercy and reconciliation. This step re-introduced him to the life of fame and monumental recognition as he was now made free to live and carry out his work delivered from the scourge of a blessing that once made him small.

RESTLESS! That was the key word that unlocked the door to much potential yet to have been. It is true to note that we all in this life are loaded up with stuff beyond what we can easily notice. We have often been reminded of the grave being the richest part of our planet, with books that were never written, songs that were never sung and other noteworthy ideas which never saw the light of day. This will always be the case as long as there remain people in our world who feel the usual sense of complacency with what they see happen around them on a regular basis.
