Social Change Through Training and Education: Volume Iii— the 'Clothing' for Effective Policing: Cultural Competency, Spirituality and Ethics (Cultural Competency Self-Assessment Tool Included)
()
About this ebook
I use clothing metaphorically to describe more than something to cover body parts. Clothing refers to preparation of the heart, soul, and mind for tasks associated with policing.
I came up with the idea while studying scripture, substituting the word clothing for armor, both words understood to refer to protecting the body and mind-set. In the Bible, clothing and colors were symbolic.

PROLOGUE
Have you ever pondered how authors identify a title for their manuscript? Give me a minute to explain how I identified the title for Volume 3 in my Social Change through Training and Education series.
In Volume 2, Understanding the Humanity of Policing, I proposed that responsibility for policing belongs to the men and women we identify by profession as police/law enforcement officers as well as to men, women and youth of the community serving in other professions. I deliberately used a broad brush to depict the humanity of policing to make it inclusive and clear that every member of society performs a role in the efficacy of policing processes, hoping no one would forget the human side that we tend to overlook.
I clearly understand what happens with applying a broad brush stroke. There is always a potential for stereotypical misinterpretations and fallacies encouraging biased behavior from the brush strokes left behind. To offset possible misinterpretation and unsupported assumptions,
