It is my privilege to be able to write a review on ‘Attaining Health through Salah and Ablution’ by Anayat Bukhari.
The Author has indeed chosen to include the physical benefits, which are seldom emphasised whilst discussing the spiritual benefits of Salah (compulsory ritualistic prayer in Islam).
Being a Psychiatrist, I am particularly impressed by the psychological and mental effects mentioned by the Author especially highlighting the benefits starting from intention of prayer and continuing effects afterwards.
The most fascinating thing about this book is how the author has shared his own personal experiences and long lasting effects of Salah. In the end, effects of Salah in one’s life in general are highlighted making this book a complete reference for such topic.
I would highly recommend this book for not only those who have interest in health, fitness and spirituality but also those who may be intrigued about religion affecting a person’s life in various domains.

FOREWORD
I usually come across the people suffering from musculoskeletal problems at different occasions. Most of them receive advice from their Medical men to perform certain exercises to address their issue. Many countries have developed a full network for body fitness in the form of a huge business. People spend huge amounts and spare time to keep fit but still they suffer a lot. This led me to conceive the idea to explore a simple, easy and practicable way to keep fit.
The quest of easy path to fitness made me search through various options. Traditional exercises, Yoga, Diet supplements, Sports, etc. all are different methods to keep your body fit. Each of them has some complication or limitation which renders it unpractical for the common man. I found a lot of stuff on the Medical and physical benefits of Wudu and Salah in a scattered form. I decided to compile it in a comprehensive form to create a formal guideline for the benefit of general public. Studying this booklet can be beneficial both for Muslims and non-Muslims. It is tried to present
