Foreword
As my mom and I sat on a swinging chair underneath that big tree at a RV resort in Texas, I remembered how many times before this moment that we had sat there making monumental decisions in my life. In one of these swinging chairs three years ago, I had told my mom that I had decided to go to Schreiner University. This is the same college I am about to graduate from next spring! In this same chair, I had also talked to my mom about ending a relationship with a guy who had sucked my heart so dry! This RV resort is a monumental place.
But today was different, as my mom was trying to make a decision herself! My mother asked me if I felt like being raised up in purity and by the Word of God was the best idea for my life. This was a very deep question. I could tell it was very important to my mom that I answer it honestly. In that moment I had many flashbacks in which purity and God’s Word played a big factor in my life. I also thought of how many components went into living a life of purity. It’s not just being abstinent until marriage but also realizing that you are precious and loved by God no matter what and remembering that God is good, not just to everyone else but also to you and me.
I thought of all these times that purity played a role in my life, and I realized they would include all the days of my life. I do not regret living this life that I have chosen for myself and that my dad and mom have helped me stick to these almost twenty-one years. I have encountered God so closely only because of my willingness to seek Him! And to be really honest, there are many times I fail at seeking the God that loves me so deeply.
In the beginning of college, I had this strong urge to
