Growing up, writing has always been my escape, whether it was poetry or in a journal. I decided a long time ago to increase my knowledge by getting a journalism degree and a children’s book writing certificate. Always living and working in agriculture, I searched for books to read to my children that related to our life. My search came up with a few great stories, but only a few. Still living on a ranch and with my children grown, I decided it was time to share some of the amazing adventures I have come across in watching livestock and other animals.

The Double Twin’s Unexpected Adventure

Living in the southern prairies, people got used to severe weather changes that could happen in one day making it feel like you were experiencing all four seasons in just a few short hours. You needed to be prepared for just about anything.

Today was an exceptionally warm fall day. People were calling it a delayed Indian summer, probably because there wasn’t much of a summer this year at all. For the last two weeks, it rained most days and then eventually snowed, but today the sun was out melting the snow and making huge muddy puddles everywhere. These large puddles were especially noticeable around the ranch yard where the twin’s lived and they couldn’t wait to get outside and play in them.

Sara and her 12 year old twin brother Sam were very excited to be starting a full week off from school due to teacher’s convention. It was Sunday morning and everyone was up early to help sort cow/calf pairs in the corrals outside to go to the Auction Market’s big fall sale tomorrow. Everyone that is, except the twins.
