    I dedicate this book

To my best and dearest friend

    Sakinah Maryam

    My dearest friend,

I have finally managed to collect and put together a few stories of the farm animals that Bear and his family once kept on their borrowed farm. They say it was a wonderful time they had, short as it was.

Mr. Bear, as you know, could not stay on that farm forever. However, when they had to leave the farm after occupying it for those two short years, they did not leave all of it behind. The memories of the amusing experiences they had were kept well-guarded, like new-found treasure.

Some may call this a story; I like to think of it more as a collection of memories.

I hope that this will make glad the hearts of children who read it; that would be my biggest reward.

I must run along now. Take care.

    Yours, most affectionately,

    Ellen
